As well as flash, factory pre-LCI lights also use the H7 for permanent main beam when you push the stalk as well as lifting the HID shutter.

Ahh, I will have to check that. I was under the impression pre LCI only used the H7 for flash to pass.

Edit: Just checked, my H7 bulbs do not light up for full beam. They are only used for flash to pass. Which is the way I thought they were meant to work.

On my old 06 E90 330i with factory xenons, the H7 on its own was used for flash only when the lights were off (maybe the HIDs back then were too slow to flash from cold?).

When the lights were on, both the shutter and H7 would operate for a flash (pull) or main beam (push), you could hear the shutter click for pull or push.

So main beam was HID and H7 together (i'm 99.9% sure of this)

Then on my 09 LCI 335i with factory xenons, the HID was used for all 4 modes, cold and hot flash, hi and lo beams, even flash from cold is instantaneous.

LCI has no other main beam, only the single HID, the inner lamps were either dummies or directional lamps if you had active headlamps option.

Its possible mine isnt coded correctly then..as if I can get rhe h7s to work, thr xenon shutter will also be lifted as they are powered of the same wire. Just need to find out who can code now.

Gerdy, but aren't yours factory Xenons?

If so, then the coding can't be wrong?

IIRC on mine. with lights off, on a flash you could hear the shutter clicking with the H7 flash, still even though the HIDs were off.

Doughboy the function of the lights may have changed since yours is/(was) a 2006. Mine is a 2008 and one of the last pre-LCIs. I know that my flash to pass doesn't raise the shutter.

I don't think gerdy's lights are factory, he mentioned he still has the headlight levelling rotary switch next to his light switch, I think it is a poorly done retrofit by the previous owner.

bishbosh, you maybe right, the light assembly didn't change pre-LCI so I think its just my memory fading!

But definitely on high beam (lights on, stalk push) I had both HID and H7.

Does yours do that?

I know this because when I got my 09 LCI I thought the H7 was faulty as only HID was used for hi / low / flash, but as said LCI xenon doesn't have any H7 inners.

No I only get H7 on flash to pass. No H7 when pushing the stalk with the lights on.

Doughboy, no im now thinkning my xenons have been retrofitted. Doijg this conversion does it require upgrade of the foot well module? Is remote coding possible?

Bi xenon main beam not fully working

Hi looking at buying a used 3 series and the one I’m looking at has a similar issue. When you pull the stalk to flash nothing happens but you get a main beam sign come up on the dash but no beam come, if you push the stalk backwards to put the main beam on then it works. Any idea what is wrong with this?

Mine has a faulty footwell module apparently. The place I’m buying it from said they bought a new module now but just need to get it coded. They go the garage is closed this weekend so can’t give the car to me yet. Tempted to take the car now and get the coding sorted some place else as it’s been a week and I’m already annoyed.

My high beam stalk isn't working either and mine are oem bi xenons. I have a 330i 2006. I push forward and the blue light comes up but the shutter doesn't tilt to show brighter beams. Can anyone point me to the right direction with NCS expert? I haven't seen the exact resolution for this post yet.

Shutter e91 does not work oem

Hello, i´m Bern from Holland and I drive a 381i LCI e91.2010. I replaced my halogens for LCI oem bi´xenon's. Made the oem wire change. Earth on pin 2 of the headlight connector and the shutter wire from pin 5 hl connector to pin 41 of my frm module the PL2 FRM II (LED,NSW) date 0609.
Coded the CAS VO and FRM VO ( Add $522) and re-coded the FRM with the code data. I added the TRC code data in a attachment. All works fine, Pull stalk is Flash to pass with xenon but no high beam. Only low beam. Push the stalk is only low beam with dashboard indicator HighBeam (Blue icon) but no shutters. If I put 12v on the shutter wire they work fine, so the shutters are oke. What could be the problem here. Maybe somebody have a look at the TRC file and will find some wrong settings . Or is the FRM module that needs to be replaced: As far as i´m red in several forum posts it should be possible to get this working ok as oem with this FRM 2 Module. Or am I wrong? Please help, because I´m stuck in my options.
Attached files are read outs after coding. From FRM and CAS
BTW this shutter works fine here, but won´t fit into my car.

Coding dates FRM.txt
