Oil leak under the car!
Hi!
I have a 335i E92 2007. I got an oil leak, there is oil under the ground after the car have been parked. I will include some pictures and a log (just in case). The OFHG is recently replaced. I can't see any oil on the sides of the engine block (VCG), perhaps it's leaking from the back. Or is it the rear main seal? What do you guys think based on the pictures and video. Thanks! /BMW335l https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Ba8...ew?usp=sharing View post on imgur.com https://datalogs.***********.com/gra...19-52-24.3294/ :replace ****** with s p o o l s t r e e t Last edited by BMW335l; 09-27-2020 at 03:33 PM.. |

I'm betting oil pan or valve cover. It doesn't look directly oily under the rear main. Often the valve cover will leak at the back of the engine not the first time I've seen that. Best idea is to hit everything with degreaser or brake cleaner and see what it does after

The oil pan gasket was actually replaced a few months back. So I guess it's most likely the VCG then? |

"Oil leak under the car!"
Subject line is a little vague - I edited it for you: "I own a BMW."

Lol.. Bmw do alot well but keeping oil inside is not one of them.. I think it says alot that even on a "leak free" engine it in normal to lose a quart in 750 miles..

Yeah please share your sources... Cause i seen alot but a quart at 750 miles.. Well i would like to see that on a manufacturer endorsed page.. And the shocking thing is that is the consuming amount, not leaking so its normal to have to put in a quart of oil every other tank fill..
I will help you.. Heres another manufacturer that does a engine tear down if customers burns a quart in 1100 miles.. Last edited by Tunafish; 09-28-2020 at 12:22 AM.. |

Thanks for helping. I wasn’t claiming 750 for everyone. The point being they’re all kind of outrageous. 750 just slightly more so.
Meh. CYA. |

Agree .. Any engine burning a quart in 3k is an issue for me.. But most manufacture are like half that as normal.. I see the cya in that..
I have to say the pictures are the cleanest bmw pics i have seen. |
