6FL iPod option - being asked to pay for iPod cable!!!
Just got my new 335i E92 with the 6FL iPod integration. Went to pick up the car and the dealer tells me I have to pay another $100 to get the iPod "Y" cable, so I can use an iPod!!! Anyone else being asked to do so? Our US friends get theirs free. I've spat it, given the option was 800 bucks to start with.

That absolutely rude of them. If you paid for the intergrtion kit then it should be complete and ready to go. What are they going to do next - Sell you a new car and on delivery tell you to pay extra for the steering wheel!!!!! I'd fight it.

that's really riduculous... couldn't you just buy it direct from apple, rather then your dealer?

WHAT??? And you paid $900 for the pleasure? I couldn't bring myself to pay that sort of money (then you can't use the cd stacker when the Ipod is plugged in) when there is already the aux in plug. The rip off merchants should give you the damn cable....
I'm keen to hear from you what the device is like in use (user friendliness, display output etc).

just had alook at the pdf- looks good (because its usb so there could be software updates for all sorts of stuff)- different from the $900 glove box conversion. I wonder how much the option costs (should be standard on the 335 i reckon)

If you want to be able to control your Ipod's mp3 music selection via the idrive screen for full integration, it's really the best way to go.

I was charged $810 for 6FL, and so far works extremely well with a 2G USB stick just literally plugged directly into the USB socket under the armrest. They supplied a USB lead so you can plug the stick in to that if you want. You also get a small satchel screwed under the arm rest to hold the iPod.
I've got my dealer fighting with BMW Australia to try and get the iPod lead for free....it's not a dealer issue from what I can work out...I saw a BMW Australia bulletin that detailed the cost/part number etc. Anyone else out there got a post-March production 335i????

What the.........??? You've been ripped at your stealership
When pricing up a new car for ordering the price list strictly states it as a $600 option + $30 stamp duty ($630). See price info in March 2007 pricelist.

that's the dealers for you... try to rape you with everything, especially after you have bought the car!

Hi!
I just got the new Innovations pack 4/07 build which includes the MP3 USB interface with the USB cable. I've tried a USB key and Ipod shuffle and both work great. I plugged the Ipod shuffle connector straight into USB no probs Innovations pack also included business nav (updated identical to my proffessional nav but less colours), bluetooth, xenon and adaptive and comfort access. Astra- btw, its Nico picked this up to replace my daily 120i. Love it so far with the sports, 18" M . I told Aaron may try to come to Dee Why meet |

i also have the 6FL option. Received the car last week without the most important ipod cable, so I ask my dealer to get one. I told them it's "part of the deal", so I have the cable for free
Your dealer decides whether they are going to charge or not, not BMW Australia. Kingsley |

Sounds like a heap of crap to me..... i paid $500 for full ipod intergration as I told them there was no way on gods earth that a cable could cost $850. Said to do it after signed car but before I picked it up... or I would rethink the deal.
Also got the dog seat cover for $300 not $650, same reason. Lets face it, great car..... big rip off! |
