Rescued from the Shelter

I’d like to tell you a little story…

So I found this puppy at a local shelter in a town 25 minutes north west of where I live. From the look of things she had been neglected and possibly even abused by her previous owner(s). When I went to see her for the first time, I could see how much she wanted to leave and to be loved by someone, anyone. Looking through the dirt on her bright red coat and shiny paws, I could see that she was something special. When I took her for a stroll I could hear and feel her speed as she tugged away whenever I let her. I could not in all conscious leave her to rot in some godforesaken place. I had decided that she would be mine. Ans so she was.

EDIT: So that the above creative analogy is not lost on some people; I found the car at an auto wholesalers lot, the car had just come in, it was dirty etc. and had not been maintained by its previous owner(s). During the test drive the car drove well and pulled very strongly. It was a rare find (Red, MT loaded) and I just had to have it.

Two days later she came home with me. Say hello to Lil’ Red. This is what she looked like after I nourished her back to life and after her first bath.

She is a 2006 E90 330i MT - ZSP, ZPP, ZCW, NAV, PDC, Active Steering, Adaptive Cruise Control, Auto Sunshade. I took her to Dr. Mike at RRT who wonderfully got her road worthy (Brake job, wheel bearing, alignment, Brake Fluid flush, Starter) ! She purrs like a kitten know (albeit an agressive one). I continued on with a service regimen of my own DIY:

DIY Service:
Air filter (Mann OEM) (02/14)
Cabin filter (Mann OEM) (02/14)
Oil change using Mobil 0w40 (02/14)
Oil filter (Mann OEM) (02/14)
Spark plugs using NGK 6D11 (02/14)
Sachs Trunk lift support both sides (03/14)

She needs most of her fluids changed, which I will do once the weather is warmer. I think I can DIY most of them.

So far she has enjoyed a lot of cosmetic and interior upgrades which are all New BMW OEM unless specified.

DIY Upgrades:
2014 navigation map disc (02/14)
All season new design rubber floor mats in black (02/14)
M-Sport Performance shift knob in perforated leather with leather boot (02/14)
M-Sport Performance ebrake handle in perforated leather (02/14)
Black leather center console armrest (used) (02/14)
Black leather ebrake cover (02/14)
Roundel graphic valve stem caps (02/14)
Front and rear mud flaps (02/14)
M-Sport Performance pedals (02/14)
Drivers side actual cup holder with chrome trim (02/14)
Passenger side cup holder chrome trim (02/14)
K&N Hi-Performance air filter (03/14)
Charcoal filter delete (02/14)
BMS short throw clutch Stop (03/14)
JBSpeed matte black front grilles (03/14)

DIY Replaced:
Driver and passenger side wipers (02/14)
Steering wheel trim (02/14)
Rear beige center console cover (02/14)
Both front fog lights (used) (02/14)

I plan on adding spacers, tint all around, M3 spoiler and a new exhaust system (maybe BMW PE). The above pics don’t show they way she looks like now. I’ll post more pics in April.

Truth be told, I'm an original from the old days as I had a E90 330i back in 2006. But I'm back in the BMW family.

I got the shift knob from getbmwparts.com (aka BMW of Silver Spring aka Tischer BMW).

Thinking of getting her paws dipped in true metallic plastidip from dipyourcar.com. Stuff looks awesome and something that I think I could do myself.

How old are you??? Never heard of a grown man making up stories about puppies in regards to a car purchase before. Weird and immature imo, but to each their own i guess.

WTF. I was just being creative in my "I bought a new used BMW" story.

I'm probably old enough to be your dad.

Thanks for noticing! I'd never seen a 330i Red MT with all those options but when I came across this one, I just had to jump on it.

I think whatever options where available at E90 330i launch is what the original owner got with the exception of SAT radio.
