WTF is this??

I think I got another flat tire. At least that's what the indicator is indicating. I looked and looked but couldnt find any nails/bolts/nuts. I thought maybe the tire was just losing air so I pumped some in there and it's still on. I even tried resetting the pressure. I've heard about the indicator malfunctioning. I dont know if I can take this to the dealers cus they're only accessible by freeways. I dont wanna drive 50mph on the freeway again. Any thoughts on this????

did you check pressure in the tire manually? not seeing the hole doesn't mean it's not there.

sorry to hear that man! you have probably the same luck with flat tires as i do...

yeah how bout you check the air in your tires

put a tire gauge on your valve stem (after removing the black cap of course)

you should do this about every 2 weeks

Check and make sure the rim is not bent on the inside. I had the same problem, guess I hit a pot hole a little to hard.

sometimes the valve stem is loose....and air escape(my case)....put some soapy water on it....

I went and bought one of those valve stem screwdriver....and tighten it up. Problem solved.

That's a good suggestion Fleet. People need to remember that with run flats, you are not going to "see" underinflated tires as easily as you do with conventional tires. The stiffer sidewall is designed to support the car, so your tires might be low on pressure but appear visually normal.

I usually check mine every one to three weeks - especially during season changes when the temperature is fluctuating. I agree that BMW should toss a guage into the trunk tool kit!

I suspect that BMW has figured out by now that since few owners ever open their Owners' Manual, even fewer would likely find a tire pressure gauge. <g> As otheres have pointed out, it is important to check tire pressures regularly and frequently for the sake of safety as well as tire wear. The tire pressure monitoring system senses differences in pressure rather than specific pressure and does not take the place of regular pressure checks.

I took the car to the dealer today. Turned out that ALL FOUR tires were low on pressure. NOw isnt that something. Before I took it to the dealer I had the tires inflated to the recommended pressure at a nearby tire shop. The dealership just inflated my tires and the indicator turned off. *shrug* This is actually the first time Im happy with the service. I asked them to raise it up and see if there was any puncture and they did that. They fixed everything AND gave me a car wash. For the first time, Im a happy camper with BMW's service. ^^

oh and thanks to those who tried to help

i conducted an experiment on the tyres a few weeks ago and posted my results on the tyres thread.

i simply did not chech my tyes for about 4 - 5 weeks and after that time found each had lost about 4 psi.

check them on a regular basis until you know how often to fill your tyres with air.

all the best.
