My new 330D, kinda a build thread I guess
Well, after 3 months of looking I finally managed to find the right car, a manual 330D, LCI in Le Mans blue
My first BMW, previous cars being a Vauxhall Corsa SRi (first car), Mk2 Golf, Audi S3, Audi A4 DTM and a A3 Sportsback. Only had her for a few days but loving it so far, looks awesome in blue and plenty of power. Plans are to tidy up a few bits and pieces, pay a little visit to Evolve for a remap and when funds allow, lower on a decent set of coilovers with some 19" CSL style alloys. It's difficult to compare figures as it was dyno'd on a hub dyno but it went from 224whp to 290whp (+66) and 390lb/ft at the wheels to 450lb/ft at the wheels (60) Working off of stock figures that's 241bhp to 307bhp and 384lb/ft to 444lb/ft. It's really healthy now and having had a few go's against them; it's marginally quicker when rolling than a 435d. |

Thanks, very happy with it so far. I had been borrowing my Granddads 1.2 Fiesta for a few months while I was looking for a new car, the 330D absolutely flies compared to that!
Spent some time researching who to get the car remapped by, P-Torque and Evolve seem to be popular. I think i'm going to go with Evolve and they are a little closer to me, i've had a quote of £450 with pre and post dyno, gains are 50-60 BHP and 90-100 lb.ft torque. So should take it to around 300BHP and 483 lb.ft torque, not that it's slow as standard.

Had the car for about 6/7 months now, moved house and got engaged so funds are tight!
A few small updates, mostly tidying things up. Had parts of the front and rear bumper resprayed to remove some pretty bad scratches (previous owner), removed the towbar and fitted some screwless and logoless number plates Bought some slightly chavy harness pads, not to everyones tastes i'm sure. Most boring mod, bought some OEM matts. The previous ones were aftermarket and falling apart. Also purchased a Carley dongle to scan for fault codes and make a few changes. Really easy to use, definitely worth buying. So far changed: - Disabled seatbelt warning - Enabled visual locking and unlocking (indicator flash) - Enabled window close/open from remote - Enabled digital MPH reading on dash Lots of smaller things too, can even set to the wipers finish their wipe when turning the engine off ha ha. Finally, the obligatory forum windows sticker ordered from the states Next up, when funds allow, a P-Torque remap

Hi Stahliniho,
I actually bought from the classifieds section of this forum, Amazon also sell them for around £50 and the app's about £25. Worth it if you think most garages charge £50 to scan for fault codes so pays for itself pretty quickly.

Is there a way to not have the pictures so big on this forum? Surely I'm missing something? For example the above pictures are bigger than my monitor!

Thanks. If using iOS to connect you need this OD2 Adapter, different if using Android etc:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Original-Ca...ords=carly+ios Thanks, took about 6 months of waiting to find the right one, not many 330D LCI's around in a manual

Loving the 330 i have one mywelf and was wondering if you could tell me how Carly has been for you as the reviews on the play store seem all over the place? And where did you buy the adapter from, was it shipped as that was what was putting me off?. Also, when mapped would love to see a video as mine is "supposed" to be mapped but cant be sure so would be nice to compare https://youtu.be/Y66LnrcHT-I |

Thanks
You need both the dongle and the app to use Carly. I picked up the dongle from this forums classified for a really good price then the app was around £35. I'm using with iOS so can't comment on the Android app, however I haven't had any problems. There’s plenty of guides / info online and the apps regularly updated too. From what've read, the OEM programming software has more functionality, however Carly has a much simpler user interface. Considering what I’m using it for, Carly was the obvious choice for me. As for the remap, no worries I’ll post over a video/dyno graph once I’ve had it done. I'm going to go with p-torque, should see around 300bph and 500 ft/lb of torque.

Decided to upgrade my headlights as they looked a bit odd. The Xeons are nice and white but the Angel Eyes had halogen bulbs, so a yellow colour.
Bought a set of 20W CREE LED bulbs from eBay. They're 6000K so match the Xeons. Not hard to fit but a bit fiddle to get into the rear of the light housing, pleased with the results though: Old: New
