recommendation for fixing torn out screw hole
I have had to take my bumper off quite frequently due to some halogen to xenon conversion problems (from a banned member).
Now two screws that hold on the front bumper in the wheel well will not screw in. Only plastic material is being dug out. The second picture in http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ghlight=bumper shows which ones I am talking about. Anyone have any recommendations on how to fix this? I was thinking of filling it with epoxy, put the screw and, and just unscrew it out once it's dried, so I don't fill it in and cant screw anything in. Would hot glue gun be strong enough to hold the corner of the bumper up? Thanks |

I don't know what the product is called but it is a metal strip with teeth on both sides that you wedge into the hole. The teeth grab the plastic (or wood, or anything besides metal) and the screw can then grip the hole once again. You don't need to tighten down the screws so much. Just enough so they will not come loose. Last time I went to Home Depot they didn't have it. I found it at a local hardware store in Philly.

jb weld bro! it works in mysterious ways I was pretty pissed when I was trying to remove my headlights and a plastic part snapped and my headlight was shaking. Then, i went over to Home Depot and picked up some jb weld, mixed it up, and put it on broken plastic, and BOOM! problem solved
