Newbie help on Winter Tires
hey The dealer has suggested 205/55R16 but can i put a set of 245/45 R 17 on the vehicle..I live in IOWA and it gets pretty heavy snowfall so i have heard. I may mostly drive 10 miles a day during winter.
From what i understand from the calculator from the forum " 9mm LESS clearance on the strut side, and the outside edge of the wheel will EXTEND an extra 3mm" is this a major difference and will i run into any issues...? Forgive for my dumb questions... |

Skinny tires are better in the snow. But both of those tire sizes can come factory on the car, so you won't have any issues assuming you have the correct wheels.

245/45R17 is too wide. If you're going to use 17" wheels for winter use, stick with 225/45R17.
