UK 330d LCI E91

Hello!

My first BMW and in fact German car. Many, many JDM cars before this one. Being nearly 30 and a drummer saw me move away from loud, brash cars whilst still needing that sporty looking and quick car with space.
I couldn't really run an RS4 due to the milage I do & wanted a manual. 330d fit the bill.

So here's my 2011 E91 330d LCI manual.

Since the above its been fitted with BMW Performance black front kidneys as I really don't like chrome.

Also I'm running Carly and Torque. The usual diesel woes of swirl flaps dealt with immediately and at 59k you can see it was logged with crud.
I'll whip it off again shortly and fit blanks and an oil catch can.

Next is a full brake replacement. All discs, pads, rear shoes and handbrake assembly for Zimmermann items.

So there we are. Next will be having the MV3 wheels refurbished and keeping it super clean.

Swirl flaps removed and CNC blanks fitted.
Manifold drenched in EGR cleaner, brushed and scrapped. Dried out with a team of brake cleaner and an air line.

Glow plugs changed and new controlled fitted.
Was having a few little idle shudders upon cold start and 2x plugs were suggesting faults.

All done as the manifold came off anyway.

Not sure how to offer photos without Photobucket!

The car also has gloss black Performance grills and carbon splitters.

I also installed air scoops, which despite all the posts suggesting they are a load of crap are all wrong.
I run Torque whenever I use the car. Prior to scoop install the intake temps were always 3-4 degrees above ambient temperature, now they are the same. If it's 10 degrees outside, that's the intake temperature.
So I would say a worthwhile investment as it HAS lowered my intake temps.

Next will be wheel refurbishment, but not until after winter has passed & an oil change after Xmas.

First time the inlet manifold came off, so much crud inside.
It has since come off again and blanks have been fitted.

Full brake update.

Catch can in progress.

Running Torque and a ELM adapter to monitor the following. Handy to ensure the DPF is regenerating properly.

OCC made up today. All custom as there are no parts that directly fit the N57.
Managed to keep the track to the OEM size to keep flow as BMW intended.
A few more tweeks and it'll be good to install.

Look at the inlet manifold, it stops the EGR soot mixing with oil vapour & creating all that bloody mess in the IM again.

Also stops oil diluting your fuel.

Not a lot has been done, just 2x new front wheels as the old ones were kerbed & I do not have time for the car to be laid up having wheels painted.
Oil change has just been done this weekend.

What were the blanks you installed?

I just removed the rod, removed the flaps and refitted the manifold.

They were CNC items in plastic. Not cheap, but a very nice fit and save having holes in the old parts.
I'm sure either way is fine!
