Just swapped out motor mounts last weekend and noticed mine is now leaking. Im going to do the subframe bushings at the same time but i dont have an engine hoist.
$80 harbor freight one works well.
Where are the lift points on this motor. I've seen one at the front but haven't seen others. Have you done it?

I got quoted $1,200 for my 335i. I did it myself in 6 hours including dropping the subframe.

i have my car on ramps right now to look at a waterpump leak. It's very tight under the car. I would think you would need to put the car on tallest setting on jackstands.

On the inner fenders.
Your not lifting, your just holding the engine in place.

I was lucky and had the gasket replaced by the dealer while my car was (barely) still under CPO.

I didn't see the actual cost (the receipt had $0.00 because warranty), but my SA said it was about $75.00 in oil, $25.00 for the oil pan gasket, and $900.00 in labor.

They had my car for about a week, but I have no idea how much of that week was dedicated to my car. If you assume $85 an hour, then it comes to about 10.5 hours of work.

From everything I have read, there is no way around this. I may have to do this myself. They say it takes 6 hours. I say I can do it in 3 or 4 hours.

Go slowly when removing the single-use aluminum bolts. 3 of mine broke and that added at least 2hrs to the job. Also be careful when torquing the new bolts. BMW calls for 8nm or 6lb/ft +90degrees
My old gasket was baked onto the the pan. It was quite difficult to scrape it all off.

With the subframe down, there are many items you can check and proactively replace.

still alive in 2018

In the midst of doing this on a 2008 335xi. 8 hours to get it off. The turbos do not play into it. The front axles and diff add time. I did not drain any coolant or PS fluid. Left the PS rack hanging. Not using additional sealant because I want to do this again in another 120k miles.

What's it gonna hurt if you don't do it, besides having to top up oil?

Very common known issue, no big deal at all.
