Imagine how tiny %-wise we are, in relation to the rest of the car buying public. But we all think alike and really want manuals. I drove mine to work yesterday (last time was Dec.) and it never gets old. I don't even care when it's bumper to bumper traffic.

I miss having a stick where it rolls back. I've only driven like 5k since I replaced my brakes, and the fronts show 90k, and the rears like 36k lol

I hate having the brakes grab for xms upon starting out. But beggars can't be choosers I suppose. I know the 335i can be tricked so it doesn't do the hill holding thing but that's an extra step...

There's no way I can ever get rid of the 335i. I may not be able to get another stick. Imagine if Corvette and Porsche announce no more manuals they are simply too slow to change gears and they consume more fuel. Here's your automatic 992. That would s***

I also wish the sport modes and DSC modes on newer cars were more discrete. Super goonish when you switch from comfort >sport>sport +. "Attention everyone in the car, I'm in SPORT mode [warning ding, light on dash and red lettering]!!!" Super tacky and always requires an explanation to passengers.

Not a fun situation when you are driving older family members in a snow storm and switch to DTC (one press). In the F30 the warnings and announcements are way too much.

The E90 6MT had it perfect with DTC/DSC control.

BMW is building a factory in China because of the Chinese import restrictions, not because of US import tariff policies.

Maybe the manufacturers are getting rid of manuals because it is harder to cheat on the EPA drive tests

BMW said last yr they were going to build suvs in china because of the 40% increase in US import tariffs in response to trumps chinese tariffs he started.

The US import tariff mainly effected the german car makers, since the US car makers already make cars in china.

I agree i hate cheaters. I think the manual M cars will all be future classics. I'm looking to get a 6spd f87 M2 once they come off lease.

Call it wishful thinking but so much of the brand maturity is credited to silky smooth I6 motors and manual transmissions because people enjoyed the experience. Now with how powerful and quiet cars have become with no where to really open them up, they are getting boring. Probably a good reason why we are seeing older nostalgic cars commanding such a price premium (i.e. clean E30s).

I wouldn't be surprised if they have one in the works but are waiting to see how the autos only sell. Similar to how everyone complained how big the 3 series got and they produce the 1 series.

I think BMW and porsche are probably one of the only car makers that listens closely to feed back from customers.

I think if enough people ask for it and actually buy it new then they'll make manuals for the 3 series.

They already have manuals for the B series motors.

Similar to how BMW made manuals for the e60 M5 only for the US market because of US demand.

Porsche said in a interview that one of the main reasons they continue to make manuals for the 911 is because of US demand. They said european demand for manuals has significantly fallen last 10yrs.

That's a very easy fix that can be easily coded. In the DSC module, set AFH_DOA to nicht_aktiv.

Has anyone driven one yet? Is the steering feel e90 as I’ve heard it would be or more towards f30? As mentioned before, I’ll be autocrossing a g20 mid May during the BMWUDE.

I don't think I really like it but we'll have to see once I see some in person. I think at the moment the F series is the last BMW I would own but I also said that about the e90 a while back

Yawn. Same-old, same-old.

It only does that if you push in the brakes and clutch at the same time, and I think it has to be for 3 seconds. If you release the brake before pushing in the clutch, it will roll back.

It's the beard fallacy. Park an F30 next to an E30. The F30 is a friggn' land yacht in comparison. BMW keeps saying they're shaving weight but somehow ever generation ends up 100-200lbs heavier and a couple inches wider/taller/longer.

If the transmission is in neutral, it will not hill hold and will roll back. I'm not sure why John doesn't like the feature. I have 2 other cars that do not hill hold and I really can't tell a difference. I release the clutch on a hill as if the car is not equipped just out of habit.

I registered for the BMW Driving event. That day, I’ll get a good sense whether I like the G20.

An old guy in my neighborhood has been driving a brand new Portimao Blue/Cognac Vernasca Leather G20 330i all week, even parking right across the street from my house and I legit thought it was a Lexus IS he purchased until today when I saw the tiny BMW badge on it's rump as we both pulled out this morning and I was driving behind him.

The G20 Portimao blue color/Cognac Vernasca combo literally the identical to the Lexus IS Ultrasonic Blue Mica/Flaxen NuLux combo that we have been so used to seeing all over the roads the last couple of years and the G20 M Sport 791M rims look more JDM/Lexus/Toyota-ish than German.

Even the tail lamps' signal to turn is Lexus/Toyota like. From the back angles the G20 looks most like the IS but that is not even a negative anymore when you see the G20 front....

His car has what I think would be the base lighting package and BMW replaced the traditional BMW angel eyes Oo oO pattern with what looks like a couple of U-leds Uu uU which make the huge over sized kidney grills awkward and which makes the BMW roundel badge look tiny since BMW didn't enlarge the BMW hood and trunk roundel badges to compliment the enlarged grills and enlarged backside.

Also the BMW roundel logo badge on the rims look very tiny for some reason

In the front there are too many different design cues and you can already see that the inevitable LCI refresh, which needs to come sooner than later, will want to address this.

Said and done the G20 looks way better in pictures and on YouTube than when seen it in the flesh. If any criticism that will be shared between lovers and haters of this car is that is has absolutely NO wow factor that should accompany EVERY BMW 3 Series debut!

I've seen people more excited about nice weather than this car.

True. In person it’s so Lexus like. I never thought I would say this. The F30 looks nicer, with the exception of the fronted in my opinion.

Did the BMW driving event today at MetLife Stadium. I have to say, the G20 is a blast to drive. It corners exceptionally well. Acceleration is really good for a 4 cylinder, and sounds pretty good. Interior is really done up well. Seats are comfortable, and BMW improved the materials used for the interior. The only thing I didn’t like, but could live with, was the digital speedometer display. I much prefer the round analog ones. Overall however, I like the new G20.
