Insurance renewal

My insurance is due for renewal in a couple of weeks for my E92 335i. I received my renewal quote of £1090 which is a £300 increase on last year. I was expecting it to increase with ! the BMW thefts of late but not £300 more!

I just ran my details through compare the meerkat and got it down to £460!! Happy with that! I get a free meerkat teddy too

My best quote was with AXA so I'd strongly recommend you give them a try if your insurance is due soon.

Insurance is a joke.
The difference between different companies can be like night and day.

There's no loyalty left in insurance now, your better off changing every year like I do to find the best deal.

Glad you got a good quote sorted, some people would have just coughed up the 1k without looking elsewhere.

exactly. Insurance quotes always differ by hundreds of pounds so they must just pluck figures out of the air.

Ah, good. Another one of these topics. It's been at least a week.

Are you really surprised that its worth shopping around?

Too many companies try the automatic renewal at a silly price and hope you don't get round to cancelling.

There has been quite a lot of people who have renewed their insurance recently and had huge decreases in their premium.

I know there is security issues that need to be sorted, but clearly it isn't making a huge amount of difference to premiums. The opposite it seems.

I know a police officer from Aberdeen and they say there has been no increase in the amount of BMW thefts in the last year or two. Audis are still the car of choice.

Renewals are always daft, they hope you'll do nothing and take it from behind.

I remeber direct line renewal was always massive, then if you requoted with direct line online it was half the price, but the renewals department would say that online quotes were a separate department and could offer it cheaper!

I rang Aviva to tell them the renewal was excessive and they reduced it to £920 so £170 off in a matter of seconds. £920 was still too much so I went with AXA.

I renewed mine in Sept, and found using different comparison sites gave you different quotes. Also on Go Compare (F***ing hate that pi**ing advert) I put my insurance date as 18 December which went beyond there 60 day quote limit, and for some reason that made the quotes go down by nearly £100, then when accepting the quote, just changed the start date back to September!

Strange! but it worked!

Of course, that is the nature of the beast.

Each comparison site negotiates their discounts & fees with the insurers they deal with on an individual basis.

Comparison sites are 'Online Brokers' that is all.

So you have to try all of them because you don't know which one will have the best discount on the firm which happens to be the lowest quote for you.

You will only get the best quote when you are lucky enough to have both the lowest insurer offer AND it is on the comparison site with the best deal on that particular insurer.... as you never know this fact its just pot luck.
