I've already painted my calipers red but the brightness fades a bit. Before you ask- my method was to scrub caliper with wire brush, then sand it and clean loose dirt and dust off the caliper, I then taped off the area and sprayed with caliper paint. There's 4 coats. You will get a small amount of paint in the rotor but it comes right off with alcohol
This was my outcome; |

Don't do it.
Mine are BMW performance blue. Custom color mix. The gloss stays if you use a two stage, epoxy paint. Friends, don't let friends use caliper covers...... Just say no to crack AND caliper covers. If you have caliper covers, real BMW fans will think that you are on crack. |

Dont do it ! but if you are compelled to then buy some MGP caliper covers and have them etch in BMW. Pretty costly though but they are made of aluminum. I suggest painting your calipers with a high temp fire engine red and add high temp gloss. GL

Okay...so heres my take...Im actually serious here...
If you detail your stock calipers, clips and pads with carefully chosen colors, it will look very cool. maybe gold for the retaining clips, black for the pads, red for the actual caliper, you are actually celebrating the design that BMW has created. Silver can replace the gold if that color offends you. Then, get a set of those really nice brake lines and it will look pretty cool under there. Paint the rotor centers silver or body color, and give some attention to that crusty dust shield...Dust shield should be body color if your car is dark, maybe satin or gloss black if its a light colored car. hows that?
