I have not had those problems with my Tour - callers have said it sounds better than my Pearl did.

However, I did have some weird UI problems with my iDrive BT and my Tour... the other day I couldn't receive or make calls from iDrive. Phone Book presented, but Call was ghosted out, and no Answer screen would appear with incoming calls. I could initiate and answer calls from my handset and BT handsfree worked fine.

I realized I hadn't had a hard reset in over a week, so I battery cycled the handset when I had a few minutes, and it's been fine since.

Boy Genius Report says an OS turn for Tour is in beta for VZW as we speak... won't be soon enough for me

My Samsung i8510 innov8 is working with my 2006 E90. Just basic call and answer functions via steering wheel or idrive, but no phonebook transfers or anything else. And apparently there is no snap in adapter available either.

But at least I can call or answer calls handsfree so it is ok.

VZW Tour users can now upgrade their OS to 4.7.1.53 using Desktop Manager. Plan 30-40 minutes! It takes a LONG time. Upgraded yesterday, waiting to see results... problems I had were intermittent so don't expect miracles, myself.

Just took delivery of my 2010 335xi and my wifes verizon phone isnt compatable with new car. It worked great on our 06 ,so i guess its time for a new phone. What verizon phones work with the 2010's?

I just picked up my e92 last week and my 8900 is paired up and it works. I've used it about 5-7 times and there are rare instances where it sounds a little unclear, semi-robotic. I haven't done much reading about optimizing settings/troubleshooting other than how to pair it via the user manual.

You have to change the source after picking up the phone. No other way that I'm aware.

Could it be that you have contacts on both your simcard and your phone memory? Just a thought...

My prev. car e90 with ULF worked fine with this phone. What's the problem, what is the difference between TCU and ULF and how can I make TCU work with the phone or should I change phone?

Guys- when I first got my 335i coupe with iDrive in December of 2007 I had a regular VZW phone. A few month later I bought the Curve 8330. About a year later my car would just drop the BT connection. I tried several things including the old battery remove&replace trick. Intermittent BT fails and frustration. I

Then this summer i went out and got the VZW Tour thinking that my problems would be over. Nope.

Here is what I've found to work. Each time I start my car I've configured my phone to "Prompt" me to ask if I should connect to my car each time I start the car. Maybe it's some sort of confusion in the initial handshake between car and phone.

Another useful tip is to reset your BB every couple of days or so. I have MeterBerry which is a neat and inexpensive app that let's you really see what's going on in your phone (any softpull software will do fine however).

So far so good... keep away Murphy's Law!!

I know how frustrating this is guys...It drove me batsh!t when my service manager initially told me to get a new phone from their compatability list. In fact, since I have Verizon there isn't a current Blackberry I can buy on that compatability list (the BB Pearl on there has been discontinued by VZW for at least 6 mos. now). I mean come on guys... Blackberries and BMW users!! Dude..hello there's got to be near a billion of us (slight exageration)?!!??!?!?

Hey, my Tour works great, as did my Pearl. The latest OS upgrade seemed to take care of some issues requiring more frequent batt restarts.

I still have the Pearl. You want to borrow it to show that your BT module is effed up, send me a PM.

Same here, Palm Pre works flawlessly with 2008 328i with prem package.

It is really simple to understand how this works. I'll try to explain it quickly here.

Every bluetooth enabled device acts both as a receiver and a sender of wireless (2.4Ghz) signals. That is needed to establish simultaneous 2-way communication between 2 bluetooth enabled devices. In the world of bluetooth technology there are several standards of communication which follow predefined sets of rules and are designed for different purposes. These standards are known as Bluetooth profiles.

Now, there is a specific sets of profiles that the BMW bluetooth module supports. One is HFP which allows the bluetooth module to "stream" voice over the wireless. This allows you to use your BMW audio system as the phone receiver a.k.a. handsfree.

There is also another profile called PBAP (Phone Book Address Profile) which allows your bluetooth module in your BMW to obtain the phone book that is stored on your phone. As a result, you can see who is calling you on your car display and you can also scroll through your phone book and make calls right out of your car audio system.

So, to find out if your phone will work with your BMW bluetooth module you need to make sure:

1. Your phone supports both HFP and PBAP profiles
2. Your BMW bluetooth module supports A2DP and PBAP profiles.

Example:

My G1 (HTC Dream) supports both HSP and PBAP profiles. I was able to sych my phonebook with my 335i right away. I was doing this way before the G1 made it to the approved list of supported phones on the BMWUSA.com

I recently bought Nokia N900. It currently does NOT support PBAP. As a result, I can only use my bluetooth module in my car as a hands free. I can't see who is calling. I can't scroll my phonebook. I can only answer and decline calls.
