Car woes. Proper fed up!

So, I'll hold my hands up and admit that the paint on the new front bumper I had done is quite frankly, appalling! The reason I didn't put a full colour picture up is as it just looks so shite. I argued with the paintshop and got nowhere. Take a look:

To top it all off I had the car detailed 2 weeks ago by someone who would do the lot, including a machine polish for £50. Too good to be true? You guessed it, it was! There was a small scratch on the n/s rear quarter and now there's a big patch of mess where the paint is very thin as he went too hard at it with the pad (he's willing to pay for his f$$k up). I know pictures would help but I've seriously lost interest now, the car's on 65k (38k when I bought it for £15.5k in Feb. 2012) and I'm still doing 400+ miles/week which I don't mind at all BTW.

Do I bother with the BMW paintshop (Chesterfield for me), are they perfectionists, or do I just leave it and keep running the car until it's worth about £7-8k and chop it in against another £15-16k car when I've saved the funds?

Oh, and another thing - I think I preferred it when the splitters were carbon. SHIT!

Oh no.

That bumper really is a mile out.

I'm sure someone will be along to recommend a good body shop to do the work.

I hope the guy who caused the damaged stumps up the cash too. One thing promising but another coming up with the cash.

At £50 he isn't going to be making much money to pay for damages.

Silver cars are always difficult to paint.

That looks like a completely different paint code. Keep an eye on eBay, there are loads of e90 front bumpers on there for bargain prices.

I don't want another bumper, I just want this one somewhere near close to the colour of my car. It might as well be RED! ha

I wouldn't ever have a bumper blended in.

I think we all accept that bumpers will be slightly out and the last thing I would want to see in a blend on the panels.

It is annoying when you get shoddy work done and I know the feeling well. My frustration is through the roof with idiots.

I wouldn't be thinking of selling my car based on the bumper though.

I agree, plenty of new cars where the plastic is clearly painted at a different location to the car body!

My new E class is silver, and its the first metallic car I have ever had where the colour match is perfect twixt plastic and metal.

What was the painters name Stevie Wonder. I would leave it back and tell them to get it sorted asap . If they refuse tell them you will give their business a free bump in every car forum on the net.

Although noticeable in certain lights, your average person out there would not be any wiser so I wouldn't stress too much. Then again as enthusiasts on this forum that means f all & needs to be sorted

I dunno, I might go against the norm here and go out on a limb and say I quite like it. Its bold and out there and different.

Too many cars these days are about anti swirl and matching panels. But this is flies in the face of all of that.

A straight up two finger salute to OEM-ness.

Like I mentioned. I like it.

i would take it back and tell them u want it done right this time and also phone ur local trading standards office and inform them but tell them u are giving them the chance to put it right and ask them for advice, take it to another bodyshop or ur nearest bmw dealer for a second opinion and take a lot more photos at different angles as u need to show the difference in paint colour that way if u decide to take it further then u have the proof in the photos i defo would not get rid of the car because of this thats our problem as a society we moan about things that happen to us and dont do anything about it,feck that i complain about things that arent right now if u leave as is and trade it in further down the line the first quiestion they will ask will be about different coloured bumper and will think it has been in an accident and that will affect the trade in value just think if u went and viewed a car like ur as it sits at the moment u would think the same turn ur anger into energy collect the stuff u need then go back to them sorry for the long winded i just hate it when people take the piss and think u should just take it but hope u get it sorted go forth and fight my friend

I know I'm nosing in here again, but had a thought: Not a good one, but a thought.

No one will ever notice the difference.

Just think how distinctive it would be, really set you apart.

get it redone man or it's going to drive you nuts all the time and u won't enjoy your car as much. (that's how i would feel about it)
