HELP!! Hi-Fi retrofit with wierd problems/ E90
Hello, i did retrofit from base audio to hi fi oem (from E91/2007 car), my car is bmw E90/2006 with M-Ask 2008 navi (also retrofit) .
The navi is coded without problems for hi-fi. Everything works perfect, after i stop the car and leave it for couple hours, when i come back, and try to listen music, LEFT speaker+tweeter side is not working anymore!! Only the LEFT underseat subwoofer and WHOLE RIGHT SPEAKERS/SUBWOOFER are working. I can’t explain what happens …. If i unplug the hifi amplifier for a while and plug in back, the sound is working again on all speakers. I really can’t find where’s the problem, if anyone has an idea please let me know.. i’m very upset of this strange problem. |

I suppose you tried the standard stuff like wiggling the wires when this happens.
Or hooking up a ohmeter from the amp connector noting the ohms readings again wiggling the wires and comparing to the other side. Did you add tweeters to the front doors. Add a new hi fi harness in and or make sure to split the parallel connection between the Front doors and floors. Also the amps are dirt cheap on Ebay . If you really want to upgrade the system the amp is the first thing to upgrade. |

Yes i tried, nothing happens. I m thinking if the amp is the only possible option that can cause this problem, because is the cheapest option to replace it . I have front and rear tweeters, complete hi-fi system retrofit. You think the cables can be another possible problem?

if it was a problem with the wiring, I thought that it shouldn't have playin music for a long time and without interruptions, only if I stopped the car for several hours. it does not make sense?

The most logical thing would be to change the amp .
But doing basic measurements never hurts. You never mentioned if you changed out the entire harness or modified the base harness. You also didn't say if you had replaced speakers and added tweeters. Also always make sure you have strong battery before doing any work on these. You are going to have start doing things to find out what is going wrong. That means taking measurements and moving things around. |

the entire wiring was changed, from the amp to the speakers and navigation i think, by oem wiring diagram (i didn’t do it, another person who knew how should be done) and i also changed all the speakers with hifi speakers, tweeters added aswell

I have also M-ASK.
Ended up using speaker level output because i suspect it sends out that signal sometimes to do speaker checks or when car is going to sleep. While sending low-level signal i could hear this "noise" that got gradually louder when car is preparing to go sleep. The dsp/amp i used is quite sensitive so it expects clean signal our OEM radio cannot provide. I suppose this depends on receiving equipment. Rear tweeters? You could try disconnect all rear speakers to eliminate amp overheating since rear speakers are pointless anyways. |

If the amp is disconnected there should be no sound at all.
If there is you have problems with the wiring and or other stuff. I mean the amp and only the amp should supply sound to all speakers. The only exception is on an 06 with a pro radio there us a gong speaker at least that is how it works in my US spec e91. If you didn't do the wiring do you really no how it's been done? |

I was there, that guy pulled wires from the amp to all the speakers. when the amp is disconnected, no sound is heard in any speaker. at the moment I'm waiting these days for the new amp to do a test. The last time when I left the amp disconnected for a whole day and connected it again, no sound came back on the left side in any form..that's what I wanted to say, that I left it disconnected for a day and reconnected it, then I did the test with it connected not disconnected
