Question Cannot find the Golf Tee Mod for 335i

I keep hearing about this golf tee mod, but I cannot find a thread which explains how to do it. I did a search and get a million hits on the golf tee mod, but after spending 30 minutes reading through them, I still don't understand where to look on a 335i sedan to perform this mod.

Can someone point me in the right direction please?
Thank you!
Sam

Thank you! However, that exhaust apears to be from a 330i with single muffler and the dual tips. Where is this valve located on the dual exhaust single tipped 335i? Is it just before the exhaust tip on the right side muffler?
Thank you!

The 335i exhaust also has the diverter valve on the left side muffler (drivers side).

Yes it's before the exhaust tip.

take the vacumm line off of the valve on the exhaust tip, and cover the port on the valve with a vacumm cap. then pull the vacumm line back a little on the little metal clip that is holding it in place and put a golf tee in the vacumm line. or you can find a screw that will fit the vacumm line and screw it in the line which is what i did...

I wouldn't use tape. At least use a screw to plug it up.

I just finished the golf tee mod. Thank you! It was the easiest mod I've ever done haha .

Yes I think tape should be ok to cover that valve line, just to keep dirt/dust/moisture out of the valve mechanism. The only worry is heat from the exaust affecting tape. I may replace the duct tape I used with high-temp tape later on...

Heres some pics i just took of how mine is done-

I'd recommend using the vacumm cap/plug rather than electrical tape due to the fact that the exhaust gets soo hot that it could melt the tape off.. The vacumm caps can be found at any auto parts store for just a few bucks if that for a pack of them...

Which side of the exhausts do you do.The golf tee is to plug up the line and not the metal thing sticking out of the mechanism? thanks.

I just did this mod, except I used a screw in the vacuum hose and a temporary rubber hose to cap off the metal (with silicone gel inside one end to cap off the hose). I'll replace the rubber hose (and silicone) with a vacuum cap tomorrow.

I started her up and WOW; I can't believe the difference...didn't think it would sound that much better (at least during idle).

Yes its an awesome mod! My major complaint has been that this car is way too quiet, and my previous e46 330i sounded much better. Now I get a nice growl that I've been missing since I got my 335i at low RPMs/light acceleration.
AWESOME!!!

just got back from Autozone and bought some Vacumm Caps. Took the temporary tape off and fitted a vacumm cap over it. That tape method is definitely a NO-NO!!! When i took it off, it was already sticky and hot...and thats only driving the car for about 10 minutes!!!

I just did it too and I noticed a small difference in sound.Nothing that noticable during idle but its definately deeper when your driving and Under a load.Reminds me of my 04 e46 perf.pkg.Cool and easy thing for our cars.I used a screw in the line.

How about folding the tube 180 degrees, zip tying it at the kink and plugging the tube back into the solenoid?
