"My race car sure doesn’t have any electronic aids, and would be hopeless with a pure helical diff fitted."

---I been reading this old ass thread and it appears that the complainer here missed the part where the MFactory fella specifically mentions this subject. He says that helicals work in conjunction with traction aids... so to bash them when you have an old car with no traction control makes no sense.

Good heavens, some folks just want to argue.

Seen it done many time on GM iron - kind of tough striking an arc on the gears when they still got a film of gear lube but I know some folks that can weld two twigs...

I had a buddy of mine who is a phenomenal welder do mine a week ago. I've daily'd welded on a couple other vehicles before and I just wanted something for at least a hint of traction until I pull the trigger on an lsd. He has done dozens of other rear ends on high horsepower GMs and Fords, he's one out maybe a few people in AZ I would trust to do the job right. Only downside is the little bit of tire squeal pulling into and out of a parking spot or doing a u-turn & 3-point.

My Wavetrac has been doing its job well for 25,000 miles. 4 track days, plenty of hard driving, a few launches, some donuts and a handful of drifts. Absolutely one of my favorite modifications.

Sure you can't go wrong with either.

While im in a search for an LSD, I must say that where I live that everything is very bumpy and full of hills, the track AND streets paired with the suspension dimensions of an 135i I am in constantly lifting up 1 wheel (I have videos of tracking my 135i where you can clearly see I am lifting one wheel). So the argument of wavetrac being pointless in real world is not true at all...
