Finally got exhaust note perfect for my flavor… AA headers, stock mid section, then 2.25" dia dusl piping w vibrant 1790 resonators, Y pipe and 3" dia rear with 18" MF offset in/out 3" to tips. Flow is superior to prior and heading down to 22 rpd to get retuned soon, gains should be significant after the opened up exhaust.

Need video! When you say “stock mid section” I assume you kept the secondary cats in place?

I will get one, and yes correct. The latest was to switch from 14" to 18" muffler and helped with some drone and reduced sound level… and was just too loud after the 3" dia section added. Never realized how restrictive the last OEM single pipe portion was prior until this was done, and became apparent with new sound level. Switching from a 2.5/2.5 DIA MF to a 3/3 DIA MF muffler further increased the flow/sound.

Back in soon, with new exhaust we are switching from 96mm to 86mm pulley. The 22RPD guys keep impressing, and will keep you posted, and before and after dyno runs. 350whp currently.

Also, so impressed with this inline engine. What a workhorse and supercharged for almost 5 years, tuned for 10+ years, always daily, never left me stranded, and at 175k miles, tops 1/4" quart consumption over 5k.

Great evening, Zack and crew at 22RPD stayed late to get my car finished and very happy with results… some final touches/calibrations yet but we were running out of daylight and don't want to overstay my welcome. Let me say this; driving back home was a true Joy! What a difference!!!

Cheers guys! Love this n52 engine, and what these guys made it capable off.

Also here versus stock E90/92 M3, same dyno and some in progress pics… now I just need to clean it and get covers back etc. This thing is real quick now with same great stock like drivability.

Fkn awesome :,)

What size belt are you running? I won't be comparable in power since corn… but if you're running safe there with just methanol… I'm game with that 3.4. I got my 3.6 in (full time school and work has me on such a short leash) so I have the means of swapping.

I spoke with your guys over there on other aspects of the build — but I am intrigued by how much better that idler pulley looks than the 'stock' one from the kit.

Let me check on belt, yeah had no choice, was slipping bad without this and way more wrap/pulley coverage now in terms of % circumference with belt contact. Car is brilliant now, heading back in a while he is playing with some additional software/coding parameters and think we can comfortably get to 420+ whp, plus increased torque from the 318 ft-lbs and actually only running like 35% meth now at full throttle. However, don't forget exhaust, rear element was extremely restrictive once you start pushing it… and noticed 1-2psi drop after my latest exhaust mod due to increased efficiency/flow.

Also, remember do cut cover for N54… no reason to spend an extra $200, easy modification.

Seattlesquash is there any way you can enlighten me to where y'all tapped the manifold to get boost readings?

So, although Vortech recommends a bypass/BOV after 10psi, you're running just fine without one?

On the N54 one there ready to be "used", on the n52 ones I tapped into the 45 degree bend plastic elbow right after throttle… spacing on name. Perfect location, reading super steady and similar location on n54 right at beginning of intake.

I think most I hit is like 11 psi right now, but unless I changed exhaust I be around 13.

Well bois, last weekend I officially quit working 7 days a week so maybe I'll finally have time to work on this thing. I had planned for the N54 manifold and MILVS in the next revision but now you guys have me wanting a smaller pulley too. 110mm has been fun but I need more boost! Hopefully I'll be able to go and pay Bob a visit sometime soon.

Awesome to see you guys still putting in the work to get more out of this kit.

Anytime, and yes 110 mm is huge… you need to be below 100 mm and you feel some significant differences!

Congrats on backing off some work, good feeling I am sure!

Cheers, and have a great Friday lads!

This thread is pretty insane, i've got a stock N52 and I have a question about this ESS Supercharger. Did you have a shop do the install or did you do it yourself? Is it something you think you could have DIY'ed, or is it outside help worthy? How detailed are the instructions that come with it?

I've got a local shop nearby that's an authorized vendor for ESS and they have quoted me 10 hours of labor for the job. Do you think this is an accurate estimate? Ideally i'd love to put it in myself but after hearing that the shop wants 10 hours it does seem somewhat daunting. Any help is appreciated, and awesome car!

I did it myself, easy job! 8h tops and that was going really slow. Instructions are great and I skip bringing it into fender as that fitting was stupid and definitely restrict flow… and you will see what I did in pictures previously. I recommend tuning it beyond ESS if you want big gains, but great system either way! DO IT!

For me, E92 I had a corner fender brace I had to remove to fit cone filter flush. Talked to ESS snd they said, it may be a US thing but no issue to remove. If I did it again likely 4-6h and seriously not a bad job.

Congrats on backing off some work, good feeling I am sure!

Cheers, and have a great Friday lads!
For sure, it does!

I saw it mentioned above that you upgraded the supercharger idler pulley. What size idler pulley and belt did you go with for the 3.4 inch pulley? Also did it reduce the noise at idle on the unit? My idler pulley is kind of loud and Im tempted to put a ceramic bearing in it or replace it to shut it up lol
