I was able to use the remote to unlock the door then when I tried to start the car I had no power, so the power went down after I opened the car.

There is an apparent problem with BMW Assist (and Bluetooth), though I can't say your issue matches exactly.

Break down results

My electrical problems were discovered to be from a loose battery cable. This caused my 4x4 lights to go on and off and reset after I turned the car of. This cable also caused the key fob to go bad that allowed me to start and drive with out the key. The dealer replaced the key fob and checked everything. So for now the problems are fixed. No idea what caused the battery cable to get lose, they say it may have not been tighten from the factory

I traveled to Bangkok last week and was BSing with my taxi driver. He had a 10 yr old Volvo, and raved about it. When I asked his opinion about BMW, his English was too limited to get technical, but he eloquently pantomimed "sparks coming from dash," accompanied by electrical arcing sound effects to express his opinion.

I was afraid your story would confirm his opinion, but am glad to see it was a happier ending.
