Was the unit original to the car? If not you will have to use a new script to deal with the map updates. If you did it yourself you should know how. If someone else did it you may have to contact them or someone else who can deal with script activations. |

Solved!
Problem solved! Map updated to latest version.
Reading from other forums different success stories I found excellent write up from FaxData about combox installation and the aswer was to use FSTool2 version 02.02.00 to CHECK FSC. My version was 02.02.1 Quote:

To get a firmware update you need the dealer to do a full car software update. 1 - 2 hours of labor depending on the dealer. Or DIY with a BMW ICOM fiber interface. Either option takes a few hours so this is not a simple process. |

Question! We'll this process work on a retrofit of a CIC?
I've gotten to as pulling the 1b.hex but trying to figure out how to generate a valid FSC code for nav. Everything has been coded correctly just missing Navigation and voice control. Thanks in advance. |

This will work to generate a FSC for a map update on a retrofitted CIC. If you need an FSC for nav activation this will not work. Google cic patcher.

FSC code incorrect, please enter a correct code. Everything done correctly but it seems to not accept any generated code. Mine is a 2010 x23d. Current version I have on the car is Europe East Premium 2016-2 so it has been updated some time ago before I got it. Read the thread but don't seem to find any solution that works for me, if someone could help me.

If so, you'll need to manually extract the 1b.hex file using an ENET to OBD2 Connector. |

Since 2 days reading, reading, reading and testing and I am not able to generate the 1b file on my 2010 model CIC. I have tried 3 different versions of the copie_scr.sh file with 29kb, 394kb and 104kb. Not sure if there is even a difference. The expected files just does not get copied to the USB stick in the car.
I tried using DrGini but could not find a guide how to get the file out. I tried the SWID reader and was able to create a fsc code files with a very long key. Not sure what to do with this. Maybe someone can point me into the right direction. I have the small screen CIC but I am also not able to see which map version there is, as it comes up with asking for activation code straight away. Last edited by martynz; 10-31-2020 at 06:07 AM.. |

It sounds like your system is the older CIC due to the small screen. It may need a firmware update (search for that here and iLevel).
The head may have been transplanted from another car and navigation never properly enabled which may be why you are getting the FSV request at boot. There are threads here about generating the FSC codes for transplanted head units here. Also check this thread last post. https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1700430 Last edited by opjose; 10-31-2020 at 06:23 PM.. |

Thanks for your reply in the other post. My firmware is C1A which seems to be the latest. Also the 2014 maps on my CIC have now been activated and I can see the NAVI. But the 1B file still does not work. Any newer firmware required or available? |

The 1b script doesn't always work. Make sure you unpack the file into a relatively small by today's standard, USB drive that ideally has not been previously used and is formatted to fat32. An 8GB drive or smaller should come pre-formatted to FAT32 and is ideal. Insert it into the USB slot in your glove box, and leave it there. Start the car and give it 5-10 minutes to be sure the CIC recognizes the drive and the script. If it worked, you'll see a 1b.hex file on the root of the USB drive along with the script file. EDIT: I saw on your other thread that you have CIC Motion. The script does not work with MOTION. It is for CIC Premium. |

Anybody pull this off via OSX?
I'm in an E90 with the North American Premium (2013-A1) maps and no matter what I do (after reading this and multiple other threads on how to use the 1b.zip file), I've struck out with three different USB sticks to pull the HEX file. I've got the CIC version with the checkmark. All USB sticks were formatted FAT-32. Is this a Windows thing? Edit: I get "the navigation data in the car is incomplete or manipulated" error when I insert the USB with the pkgdb folder in the root along with the config.nfm file. The first time I put it in (this is sounding way dirtier than I intended), it prompted me to upgrade to the 2021 Premium before spitting out the error above. |
