M5/M3 BUMPER FOR E90 vs REPLICA KITS
Am I the only one who likes this M3 (m5) bumper? When i first saw it, i was convinced that was it. Looking at the e60 M5 and then seeing this, it just had to be final. but then... BMW decides to give the e90 a face lift and give it the e92 front. This could be final or just exclusive to the M version of the e90 (sedan).
Now, we have wonderfull companies like DTM and DukeDynamics developing wonderful M5 body kit's for the e90. This is great, but I honestly do not feel the bumper design of the e60 m5 goes with the e90 body. The e90's stock and sport kit bumpers are rigid. Lots and lots of edges, not much curves. So if BMW were going to make the e60 M5 bumper to be on an e90 they would design it as the attached pictures. Following those attached pictures. For those who aren't aware of the differences I will point em out. Please reply with comments and let me know if I am too much of a detailed person. I know they are replicas but maybe these things were difficult in actually creating the bumpers or maybe they didn't pay it much mind. It's whatever. **** I am not bashing DTM or DukeDynamics M body kit. They are both great kits, and I will be ordering one of them lol. It's like wanting to buy a new jacket in the color you really wanted, but it's sold out everywhere so you kinda have to settle for the next best color. That's kinda how i feel lol. |

it's cool as hell but 3 series is not a 5 series. each series should have their own identity, or M5 owners will start bitching how their $90k vehicles look like $50k vehicles just like the 996 owners bitched about the boxters.

I totally agree. I didn't want an M5 look to the M3. I already get people asking me ... "ooooooooooooh is that the new 5 series?" no its a 3!

license plate
*** I am aware that the duke dynamics have only created one for the e92 thus far. The e90 is in the works and we will see one in the very near future. For right now. I am using this as the m bumper comparisons only.
This is the license plate area. |

middle of bumper?
middle of bumper? because of e90 design, it should stick out a bit like the m-tech and bmw m3 design.

ok.... I think BMW won't do that because they will give the e90 a face lift to the e92 front for sure on the sedans. unless.. they try to be exclusive and very different to making the e92 front exclusive to e90 m3.

Well. The new M bumper looks great (I LOVE IT), but i think it's definitely designed for wide body font. It won't look so great. I dunno. There is an m-tech kit with the exact same bumper as the m3 on an e92 (330i, yes 330i) Overseas of course. It looks cool... but not as great.
I have been away from photo shop.. i dunno... i'll give it a try when i got 20min to kill. |

I think the bumper in the FIRST pic on this thread is disgusting, entirely because of the license plate area. Makes it look like a deformity.
I like my bumper best of all availble bumpers for E90. =) |
