Meguiar's PlastX - Can I get better results?

Hi there,

Just tried to clean my girlfriend's civic headlights by using Meguiar's PlastX and i'm not that satisfied with the results. A lot of people vouch for that product and say it can turn a used opaque headlight to a brand new one. But I'll show you what I was able to do and would like your comments to see if I can get clearer then that.

This is the "before" picture.

This is the "after" picture.

On the left one, I tried applying multiple layers of the product and couldnt get better results then the right headlight. But didnt get better results.

I've applied the product on a sponge and rubbing the sponge on the headlight; like suggested on the bottle. Any leftover was remove with a microfiber towel.

I just saw on google that some people use meguiar's powerball and get good results, but they are doing it on headlights that are not as bad as mine so... I would like to know your point before buying that thing that I'll probably never use again.

Thanks for your input.

Nop; I have an PC tho; just wanted to be sure it can be done prior to mess her headlights with the buffer.

It wouldnt be too rough for plastic? If so; what kind of pad would you use?

I've used this

Works well, all you need is a drill - corded is better here.

I second the 3M kit. I was able to get much better results with it than I did using plastic-x. Should be able to get it at Autozone too.

Go from your course to smooth with your PC pads. The lenses are very thick and hard to mess up.

I agree with those that posted the 3M kit. It helped clear up the yellowing and peeling UV coating on my '02 Jetta. Not perfect, but 100 times better.
