Vancouver folks don't need winter tires!! Stick with all seasons, or if you have summer then take other forms for transportation the couple days that it does snow :-)

I'm still on summer tires and rims (Sumitomo HTR Z III), still on the fence about putting on my winters (Gislaved Nordfrost 5).

All season on rwd even on light snow is dangerous. Vancouver isnt flat land and black ice is also a problem

When temp stays below 8C all season and summer tires lose traction as the rubber hardens.

I'm not risking my life, family, car, or others by not putting on winter tires.

What most people ignore is when you are actually driving the car vs the daytime high. Most people who commute to work drive between 630 and 830 am and return home in darkness at 6pm or later.

The daytime high of 9c does not mean a hill of beans when you leave the house at 7am and the temp is 1c and there is frost on the ground. Have fun stopping at a stop sign with performance summers on when this is the case. Had it happen to me once and never again. Almost rear-ended a guy given the summers had absolutley no traction at that temperature.

I'm from California and I've been driving in Toronto with A/Ss for 7 years now.

I don't go far from the city and the suburbs so A/S tires fit my driving patterns perfectly. I used to have a FWD and now with AWD and Conti DWS A/S tires, I think I'll be good.

My performance summers are holding up pretty well in colder temperatures. I'm hesitant to put my winters on yet since they are soft snow tires (Nordfrost 5).

Exactly, I keep forgetting I have my winters on and push the car like normal - don't want to burn them out quickly on warmer afternoons as the traction control let's them brake loose a bit.

Just drove home on my summers! Sucked, but I've made a Monday appointment for oil change/wheel swap.

New excuse for speeding, "But officer, I was just trying to warm up my summer tires so I could maintain grip in these temperatures!"

I still find the summers grip the 0'c dry roads better than the winters do. Is it just me?
