I F*cking Hate Curbs!!!!

so this happened.

pulling out of a parking spot at the Petro in Georgetown North. was paying very close attention as I always do, but apparently not enough. felt a small bump when i hit full lock. got pissed cause i thought i nicked the rim; got out to check the rim and saw this instead. cue long string of full-volume expletives, and everyone in the gas-station lot staring at me.

i'm so fucking mad right now I can't even explain. a decade of owning cheap, beater, shit-box cars and i never hit ONE curb. buy my first expensive, newer car that i'm killing myself to pay for, and just my luck i manage to be careless enough to let this happen. i'm seriously starting to think i'm fucking cursed.

any opinions on whether this can be repaired? i have no experience with body-work, and when it comes to plastic parts, i have no idea what can be fixed and what can't. my buddy is convinced i'll have to replace the whole bumper, in which case i'll probably just bite the bullet and buy the M3 rep i was planning on getting in the spring.

on that note, WTB M3 rep front bumper for pre-LCI?

It should be repairable the body shop will heat it up and pop that out and then sand and do whatever is needed to repaint it. You might be able to just get away with painting the whole bottom portion instead of the whole bumper.

can you get a front lip that will fit over the lower portion of te bumper hiding the damage?

M3 bumper painted from a good shop is ~$600

Pop out the dent (sooner than later - most likely need to remove the fender liner in the wheel well.) Clean off the scuff as best you can and see what you are dealing with. May not look as bad as you think.

+ 1... just pop it out and put some splitters over it for now. Deal with it later or just upgrade to the m3 bumper later on.

I'd like to thank everyone except this guy for their support and input.

when i'm obviously distraught and upset, wouldn't it be a good idea to keep thoughts like this to yourself? never once did i blame the curb; if you actually read my post, you'd see i actually blamed myself for being careless. so thanks.

anyways, i'm going to be taking it over to my body shop today to see what i'm looking at. i'll post up once i get a quote.

i'm planning on taking the car off the road for the snow pretty soon anyways...so depending on how much the repair costs, i might just get it lightly repaired for now, and leave the M3 bumper until the spring.

you know, hitting curbs isnt that big of a deal. i will guide you how to properly fix the wheel yourself, at home, for under 20 doll hairs. im still not sorry, btw.

1- tape off the wheel, only leaving the affected area and a few mm exposed.

2- mix up some body filler and spread like butter.

3- wait for it to dry.

4- sand smooth

5- paint

6- clear

7- hit curb, repeat.

thank me later because your body shop will charge you up the ass im sure.

EDIT: forgot you messed up the bumper too.

you should get a hair dryer to it as quick as possible. heat it up pretty evenly, but not too hot to the tough. take the wheel off and pull back the liner. bang out the dent, and use the same method described above to repaint the carnage. poor car..

soo much tension here. Well hope your bumper gets fixed, best choice is to just buy and m3 bumper rep. Try searching the forums and see if anyone is parting out with theirs, that could save you a good amount.
