ISTA d not displaying some text?

Sorry for not being a coding post.. but about diagnostics. But I successfully downloaded ISTA d and everything seems to be working, except there is some text that won't display properly in random places. I've attached a few pictures, notice in the first picture how above the text box it won't display where it should say "VIN verification" (or whatever it's supposed to say lol). Or when I pull up the virtual keyboard there's no letters visible. I can still type in my VIN and it shows that information properly. This wouldn't be an issue except when I go to do the vehicle readout nothing shows up. Any ideas of what this could be? COM is working properly, port 9, latency timer set to 1 (K+Dcan cable), running windows 8, program is labeled "ISTA-D 4.15.16" under my local disk. Thanks

Have you actually run and ID test on your car to tried to explore the
Data base.

Did you install the pre-requisite Microsoft Visual C++ Redist packages before installing ISTA?
