Car won't start
My 2007 328xi will not start this morning. It doesn't even try to turn over. What it does is similar to when you press the start button without holding down the brake - nothing. I thought it might be the battery because it's getting colder and I've had some hard starts lately, but a jump was unsuccessful. Any ideas? I have no dash indicator lights. Everything seems fine.

not sure if you have access but try hitting on it a little bit, preferably while someone else is trying to start it, are you sure battery is fine though ? I'm only asking cause I had a dead battery and couldn't boost it, it was extremely cold though

It's definitely not easy enough to do for no reason. Make sure the battery is good first. Also I would check for a start signal to the starter as well. You can do this by checking for power on the smaller wire while cranking only. It's a tight fit but you can check it with the intake still on. If the starter is bad then also replace the intake gaskets and check the DISA valves.

The battery is about four years old, but I'm going to test it tonight to be sure. I've seen the car with a low battery before, and I have none of those indicators. I will let you know what I find. |

Tested the battery, and it checked out ok. Tried jumping once more just for good measure, and tapping the starter. Nothing. I feel like I hear a brief "click" under the engine when I press the start button, but that's all. My only fear is a tear it apart and replace the starter just to find out that's not it. I guess it's still cheaper than buying a new battery and having the car reprogrammed for it at the dealer.
Thanks for the help guys |

I am not quite sure what number it is, but it might be 4 and 51:

I bought a new starter today and it should be here Wednesday. Hopefully I remember how to put Humpty Dumpty back together again. |

I have a 2011 BMW 335i E90 N55 47k miles
So I changed my spark plugs. My oil and oil filter. I also changed the Oil filter housing gasket. Once I was done i left the car idle and warmed the engine up to see if I had any oil leaks and I noticed I had one the the same area as the ofhg. I noticed oil pooling up near the oil filter. It was a small leak at first then as I'm about to back out I get in thr car and it tells me I'm low on oil to shut off the engine to avoid damage. So I got worried and turned the car off. I went and looked at the car and i lost about 1 or 2 quarts of oil. It went from a small leak to a big leak. There was oil on the hood as if the oil shot up so i knew it came from the oil filter area. Then to see the source of the leak i go to turn on the car again. But now it won't start it clicks and the lights on the dash flicker then it just stop completely. Any idea on whay i could be.? |

first of all this isn't even the right forum for your drivetrain.
secondly, you necroposted in a 2 year old thread. thirdly, this is the exact same question you asked in general tech. spamming the forum with your post isn't going to get you answers faster. |
