I'm not talking about covering it up. I'm talking about the huge gap in the front of the engine bay where the stock snorkel use to be. I think the intake itself looks good, but I would like to see it powdercoated black with no decals.

Whats that mean...? Dinan has always released products with PROVEN results. Never heard of Ultimate Racing before and I am sure they have done some homework, but did they use CFD or any sophisicated rendering to maximize flow..? (No disrespect to them... that product looks great and hints ta that they did indeed do some homework)

BMW themselves are about to release their new intake, they claim a 25% increase in flow.... not knocking UR, but what are their claims?

People pay a higher price for Dinan stuff, because they know it's no-nonsense, straitforward stuff, from a highly respectable company. You pay a premium for the privilege of knowing your car is legal (certified exhausts) and the parts have been designed to the highest standard! With sophisticated software and fluid dynamics.

BTW... why arn't these things CF?

Can't you just add that snorkel back into place and just use it as appearance only mod!!!

Curious myself, but just by looking at the design I would guess a hell of a lot more than 25% over stock.

My understanding is that there is very limited room down there, they are going to get back with the actual cone size. I'm hoping the picture is deceiving which it usually is. Either way I'll switch it out with the biggest inverted one I can fit in there.

First of all, I think the pic is a bit deceiving, and #2, it doesn't take a gigantic filter to flow well. You should see how small the filter is on my 35R Evo and it makes 425 whp on pump. Its about the size of the one on UR's intake and is not by any means a restriction.

UR is a respected comapny, especially in the Subaru world. This intake looks awesome and the price is very reasonable. 450.00. I wonder if I can pick it up. Their haedquarters are like 10 min. from me. I like Dinan products , but come on lets be real here. Its too damn expensive and their competiors are showing higher gains compared to every one of their products. They have fell behind if you ask me.

+1....I have always seen them as 2 steps behind except for a few cases. In general there are cheaper more potent products out there, but then again I have always been more a risk taker so the Dinan "warranty" isn't my biggest concern.

This is definately going to be my next mod when i get the chance to...Just changed my exhaust which the wife is already flipping on me because of warranty and noise of the car, plus what she says useless expenses on a car that you don't drive fast all the time...I guess i have to wait and hear your reviews of the CAI before i pull the trigger.

sounds like she wants you to drive faster.
