It doesn't have to be black and white yes or no in a decision structure like this, maybe his team/driver is out of the championship battle or maybe he doesn't have a favorite team he just likes a car. But to join in on talks and in on the fun in a race where there are only two horses left, both of which he is not invested/cares about then you have two choice pick a random one, or pick one that you dislike least and suits whatever discussion you are joining. This isn't a permanent pick he isn't shunning the entire sport for this one pick, this is just for the remainder of the season for him to partake in discussion. It is not a complex yes or no lifetime decision like a tattoo.

Right because it suits your narrative best.

Either way this is way off topic, and I don't care anymore. I just want to see the race tomorrow.

Yes maybe, but that's not what he said.
There are so many people watching F1, that there are bound to be people that you like and dislike that are cheering for this team or that team. So for me that's not very logical to base your choice on that.
But indeed you're right, watching F1 is not the same as a tattoo.

I reckon just as good as that what you get suits your narrative best.

I just came here to say the was f’ing inspiring the way Max went for it on that lap. Was a legendary level of try hard. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen anything like it.

He actually placed the car in a spot on the track where the wall dipped in. Amazing stuff and likely where his left front got cooked.
It was the definition of desperation and he got lucky he didn’t crash before the last corner. He was overdriving the car everywhere which resulted in cooking his tire(s). I know what you and others will say that he had nothing to lose but he has everything to lose WDC wise if he damaged his gearbox or PU.

Totally agree and the comparison with Senna as posted before is ever more true.
Let's hope his gearbox is serviceable for the race..

Unfortunately things did go off topic

Yeah see you tomorrow after the gp, hope it is good, and hope no one gets hurt if they crash - because this is a super risky track with all the concrete walls and not much run off.

It's unbelievable that Max got a 5 place grid penalty in the last race because of an error on the part of the yellow flag warning marshals with no warning on his cockpit dashboard and flag waved feebly behind the armco yet Ham gets off both double flag warning and dangerous driving penalties impeding Mazepin given the warning from pit. WTF!
This is wrong big time and RB need to take some action on this.

Apparently this time it was a mistake and the yellow flag should not have been going off and had only been triggered for a second. Redbull have also not appealed as per the fia and the deadline for said appeal has passed:https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/d...ppeal/6850870/

Look at this my friend,Hamo's team have a sponsor who supplied the cladding to a high rise block where dozens of people died in a fire spread quickly by the highly inflammable cladding.

This was an unreal, The Matrix type driving moment if I've ever seen one. Still can't believe he missed the barriers.

Watching it live I wondered if it was Max achieving absolute limit performance on the exit of T2. Purple sector 1 seemed to confirm it might have been.

In reality, not even close. It was a limit recovery, Max salvaging every bit of momentum and desperately getting back to throttle after running well wide of apex T2. (Not unlike the final corner scenario.)

I don't think VER's tires were quite ready to go. He was slower through the brake zone into T1, down about 5 kph to HAM apex T1. I think sensing this VER jumped on the throttle between turns 1 & 2 -- a much bigger punt than HAM gives -- which causes VER to run wide of apex T2 and set up The Matrix moment.

Side by side shot with HAM's pole lap, this is the view at the start of the next curbing after T2. All in all, believe Max lost about 4 tenths in turns 1 & 2.

And so to go purple in sector 1, Max recovered 4 or 5 tenths after this, which is unthinkable. The whole lap was a mix of absolute limit and over the limit driving. Something between virtuoso and reckless.

Meanwhile, HAM brilliantly steadied his way to pole. As usual, just enough to best BOT, but not too much risk.

Perfect contrast between driver mindsets and approaches.

I think HAM's approach wins WDC 6 out of 10 times, but it's abundantly clear we don't have this title fight if the Red Bull is driven similarly. Love or hate him and his approach, it's principally Max who has made this a season for the ages.

WHAT A SEASON.
