JL Audio or Rockford Fosgate

I'm looking at the JL Audio JX 400 4D OR

Rockford Fosgate R400 4D

Which do you think I should get?

I'm thinking of getting 2 of them for a total of 8 channels.

I've looked at the high end JL XD & Alpine PDX in used on eBay, but a little scared to pull the trigger on a used item like that. A forum member maybe......

I just got the JL JX400/4d and am going to get it installed this afternoon. I made that decision by others telling me that JL amps are overall great quality amps. Rockford makes good stuff too, so it may just come down to the best deal or personal brand preference.

If you go back in history on this board Rockford Fosgate is almost
never mentioned. Walking into most stereo stores they where usually
the cheapest ones you could find.
They seem to be doing some High End stuff now but is doesn't
seem to get used on this board.

The popular brands here use to be Alpine PDX , Jl audio and
Zapco, Blaupunkt . Occasionally you would see Mosconi and Audison.

If I was doing something now and wanted a multichanel amp
I would look at a Helix 86dsp or V8,
There are more company's are starting to offer products like this
but Helix seems to have the lead.
Jl audio has there own version of this now but I think Helix is in
the lead with the DSP portion.

I dunno, I like JL's VXi series (I own it). Really easy interface and room for most people to grow and customize. I recently saw Alpine which has its own version which has a LOT to play with and some added power, so I'd consider that as well. Both excellent built in DSP solutions.

I think Rockford for me is the value retail brand. I don't think it's as tried and true or as advanced as the the others Ctuna mentioned, but I also don't think they are trying to go toe-to-toe either.
