I find this disturbing, when you think about it, its quite easy to get a blank Bmw key fob of eBay and be able to program the key by fetching the codes through the OBD port.

Probably much easier then having a conventional key.

My goodness, remember one year ago we had one member lost his 335 in his garage during night. Hope OP find the car ASAP and send the thief into prison!

Cars have been getting stolen by hacking the key code for a number of years now in the UK, with most of our stolen cars ending up in Eastern Europe.
Although unfortunately to late for OP the fitting of a after market steering wheel lock or one that goes on handbrake & gear selector is a worthwhile investment. It is also possible to relocate the OBD to a 'hidden' location.

I accept this information is no doubt available on google or whatever, but you don't need to put it in everyone's face.

There really are some self serving people on this planet.

To the OP - I hope you get your car back in one piece.
Fortunately not 'everyman & his dog' has the equipment or the knowledge to steal our cars in this way. It's mostly organised criminals that steal cars to order rather than your average joy rider.

If people are not made aware of how are cars are stolen then they are not going to know how to stop or at least make it so your car is harder to steal.

People have taken their time to post about the ease of stealing cars so as others, if they so wish can take steps to make it harder for the thieves to steal their car, there was no need to be so rude with your post.

Wow, ok lets not enlighten people on how things happen because that sure as hell will prevent further thefts.

I emailed MHD about a valet map ages ago, would be easy to incorp a feature as security to sort of limit the cars drive-ability.

I will let you know the outcome when it happens. Police got the CCTV footage of the car being stolen on Saturday. Hopefully, they may recognise the culprits that stole it.

For those Gold Coast forum members, apparently, when the police picked up the CCTV footage, they made the comment that there has been a few BMW 335s stolen recently on the Gold Coast.

jb4 disables the OBD port, means you can't code a key without having the ignition on to disable the JB4 first.

If your son parks the car at this particular location on a regular basis, it may be worth while looking back at a CCTV footage that is from few day before the theft.

It is likely they came and scouted the car fist, and maybe even left a device on it to copy the key signal.

Maybe CCTV picked up a footage of their car.

Update. Car was found by police a couple of months ago. I don't know if they caught those that stole it. It went to auction at Pickles Damaged Auctions on Thursday and sold for $10,000. By the photos, it appears the only damage was just above the DS headlight and corner of the hood. How the engine was who knows.
