E92 Power Steering Severe Vibration
First post, whats up!
I saved this 07' 335i from Hurricane Harvey (minor flooding) - just above door seals. I bring this up due to the coloration of the PS fluid and possible water in the PS fluid. View post on imgur.com Is this signs of an obvious PS pump failure? This symptom first occurred on my first 100 miles on the vehicle, I revved the engine and it went away for 100 miles, and has returned. I did the bleed method and got continuous air out of the system, also inspected the bolts which all visually appeared to be torqued down. Considering doing a power steering delete as this is not my daily, and more of a recreational racing vehicle. With the research I conducted I haven't seen anyone do this on a E9X chassis, but am still tempted as I prefer a heavy steering setup. If you know anyone that went this route any info is appreciated. |

Sounds like your power steering pump is loose and is slapping against the oil pan. Happened to my E92 335i. It stripped the threads in the aluminum pan so I had to buy a used pan for $200 + $500 installation. At least I got the gasket replaced during that time...

Just visually inspect it. It will be obvious if it's loose or missing a bolt. The belt tensioner is another part that causes that sound.
