...so what shall I expect? Anything noticeably different? Any sound? Any performance gain? Or just cooler temperatures? I don't expect anything more than cooler temperatures but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask...

My understanding is that you'll feel the gains in the upper rpm range - more so if you have a decent tune such as GIAC, Procede, JB. That said, this is just an understanding from what I've heard. I too would like to hear more details from the experts.

That's what I heard too. Apparently people hit the rev limiter for the first time in their cars when they have a FMIC. I can't wait to get one.

I had the Helix IC when they first came out... You'll feel the power above 5k rpm... and you'll also notice the difference on hot humid days, it wont feel sluggish anymore.

My car never feels sluggish - even this summer in the constant 90 degree weather we had around here. Still looking forward to installing my IC soon though...

B/c normally people shift when the power falls off, which happens with our cars after 5k. But since it pulls harder over 5k with the IC on you just want to keep winding it out til you hit the rev limiter.

Thanks, everyone! Great discussion.. As for maps, I'm running #5 but I'll probably stay there. I think I'll need downpipes to move up to Map 7.. All I'll have is the JB3 2.0, a dual cone intake and FMIC..

Hey Sal, we dont publish any sort of HP gains but the car will run more efficiently. Instead of looking at it as gaining power in certain areas see it as you wont lose power because of heat in situations that you did. You recover lost power in many places including high up in the RPM range.
PS did the Mrs ever find out how many pocketbooks and shoes she could have bought with the money or is our secret safe EDIT: I also just uploaded a youtube I just made of the intercooler install on my car. Take a look |

You will be able to run more boost and more timing advance with the lower IAT temps, which will make the difference more obvious. |
