L.A. has 2nd-worst roads in nation, report shows
http://www.dailynews.com/news/ci_16145463?source=rss
__________________________________________________ _ Nearly two-thirds of the major roads in the Los Angeles area are in poor condition, earning the metro region the second-worst ranking in the nation, according to statistics released today by a national transportation research group. Los Angeles roads were ranked the second-worst among the nation's regions with populations greater than 500,000, according to a report by TRIP, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit group, which analyzed government data from 2008. Los Angeles also ranked second-worst for automobile operating costs due to poor roads, estimated at $746 annually. The dollar amount figures in repairs and maintenance, increased fuel consumption and tire wear. The report listed 63 percent of Los Angeles' major thoroughfares as being in poor condition — more than twice the national average for large population areas of 24 percent. It also said only 5 percent of major streets were in good condition. Six of the 10 worst regions in the report were in budget-strapped California. San Jose is the worst, with 64 percent of its major roadways in bad shape, according to the report. _______________________ Totally believe this.. although the roads in certain areas are very smooth such as Beverly Hills and Orange County...go to Koreatown though and you better have a jeep...i've got 19's so i gots to be real careful-like.. Hows the roads where you live? |

Fellas,
The entire infrastructure of the this country is literally falling apart. Bad roads are just the tip of the iceberg. You should see the condition of bridges, dams, water supply lines and power grid. The whole damn thing is hanging by a thin thread. Make sure you remember that next time you vote!

comparing SJ to LA, I feel that LA is much worse than SJ. I wonder which roads they benchmarked against?

the 3 lane I5 b/w 605 and 91 is f'ing LEET. I love the wheel destroying potholes on the 60 in the Industry Area. 10 fwy Eastboound from 710 to West Covina... TURTLE. Downtown and Hollywood area... not car friendly.

^^ LOL..try driving down wilshire in the mid-wilshire disrict. It's like bombs were dropped on the street. With all the tax money being poured in from that area its a disgrace to have such streets.
