Surely this is some sort of record

My friend has just come to the end of his 3 year ownership of a Z4 2.0i and brought it back to the dealer to have it checked over before handing it back and changing to a new X1. The car had 28000 miles on it, and here is the impressive part when dealer checked the tyres (and these are the original tyres from new) rears still had 4mm and fronts 7.5mm. Needless to say he drives like a granny but still 7.5mm still left on the fronts and 4mm on rears after 28000

Z4 2.0i does that have enough power to pull the skin off custard? ;-) might be an additional factor to prolonged tyre life

My rears lasted 20k. My fronts are on 30k with 4-5mm left. I've done two track days too!

Bridgestones RE050 run flats are quite hard and therefore last long. On my 335i rears were lasting 20-25k (not bad for the 550Nm torque they had to cope with) and fronts are @40k miles and still have about 10-20k left on them.
Now I'm running softer Pirelli P0 non RT tyres on the rear so I'm expecting a bit less miles from them, but so far they covered 14k miles and look very likely to double that!
