Interesting. The seller says mileage is 86k but I ran the carfax and mileage shows 135k. I checked to make sure it wasn't a clerical error and the mileage definitely increases as it should up to 135k. It had 80k miles on it as of 1/20/16. I would ask about this for anyone interested.

Might be kilometers being reported as miles on the carfax? Ad says car was imported from Germany. Comes out about right (135k km = ~84k mi)

Ah true, maybe the speedo is still in kilometers. Would be interesting they allowed that in the USA but likely the case here.

This car has been for sale since pre-covid and has been posted here before. It was mentioned that the car was looked at by one of the forum members and wasn't in the best shape and had issues. That is most likely why it doesn't have pictures, so the seller could possibly bring in new viewers.

Meaning if you only search in your local area and you're not in that city or a nearby city, you may not see the listing. Hence if you list the car is multiple cities you hope to get more interested eyes.

The US is generally pretty bad with importations, but if this car really was imported, it was probably through the "substantially similar" clause.

To be determined eligible, the vehicle must be substantially similar to a vehicle of the same make, model, and model year that was certified by its original manufacturer for sale in the United States

Considering the E91s in the US vs Germany are mostly the same, this car may have fallen into that category. Although even with this clause, I'd still be surprised as it's mostly used for Canadian-spec cars moreso than euro-spec cars.

I responded to that AW 6MT car but haven’t heard back. Regarding the mileage, it’s a US market car but may have been kept in Germany by a military service member before being brought over. I think it’s pretty simple to switch the odometer display betweeen km and miles.

Going off the Vin decoder, I am pretty sure the seller meant it was European Tourist Delivery and was built to US Specifications. I hope someone on here can get that car because its a cool build.

I emailed with someone who talked to the seller when he listed it a month ago after the listing expired. It’s a Canadian car and seller is indeed trying to market to a wider US market by listing in Seattle. I can’t comment on condition.

Just be aware the border us firmly closed. If the car is in Canada you are not going there & the owner isn’t coming here. You’ll be doing a sight-unseen importation transaction - if you can find a facilitator willing to help you in a Covid-19 emvironment.

I found an e91 and wanted to use mdecoder but kept getting daily limit reached error. Any other site works? or if someone here can help me out, I'd appreciate it very much. it is FX15396

For me, Mdecoder.com needs the full 17 digit VIN not just the last 7 digits.

https://outvin.com/ is mdecoder's new site, but it's paid. The more decodes you buy the cheaper it is. Starts at 5 vins for 5€, up to 100 vins for 25€ (Yes, prices are in Euros :-))

Is there an E91 registry somewhere? If not, I could start one - I've had pretty good success with E53 4.6/4.8iS models registry in the past. It would capture basic information: MY, Ext Color, Int Color, Location (state), transmission, sport/nonsport/msport, etc

No stories. I went hunting for this car to be my winter car two years ago. I got it from another bmwcca member. It is a nice one. Whatever it needs it gets philosophy. Mike Miller maintenance philosophy. Needs nothing. No leaks at valve cover, oil filter or anywhere. I have prior owners and my service history. I inherited a 4runner few months ago so don’t need it. Very clean. A chip on the hood and a skinned up door handle most significant defects. I have pictures. As good or better than the last few to go thru Bring a Trailer. Priced at that level = $12,500. Many extras if interested (dedicated set of snows, roof bars, ski rack, kayak rack). Car is located near Portland Maine. 207-650-1551.
