Help Requested

My original CIC died, so I ordered an identical replacement from ebay. The unit is now installed and the NAV is greyed out, and the SiriusXm won't work. I have a PC, cable, and NCS Expert installed. How can I code this to my VIN?

To code the CIC in, you need to default code CIC in ncs expert. To enable Navigation, you have 2 options. Firstly, you can enable it via fsc. That requires CIC being update to CIC.C1A if it isn't already. If it does need to be updated to CIC.C1A you need ICOM and winkfp to do that, if you use KDCAN it'll crash. Once it's updated you can upload FSC cert (look up CIC patcher on forums you'll find the software). Second option is buying a CIC emulator online, installing it to the CIC and the Nav will work.

Is there an ICOM cable you recommend?

I have read out the CIC module and saved the TRC file. I opened it in NCS Dummy and started looking through it. How do I default code the CIC? I'm willing to make a PayPal donation for some guidance.

Once you choose cic just press F3 SG Codieren. That'll default code the CIC

I already have a saved FSW man file. Won't this overwrite the CIC? Could it not put changed data into it?

Code CIC with blank MAN first. Then you can go back into trace file and enable/disable whatever you'd like

Ok, coded with blank MAN file. Still have NAV greyed out, and need to code the Siriusxm module (currently, the ESN is not visible) so it is usable in the car. Can you point me in the right direction?

Now your CIC is coded to the car. To enable navigation I posted the options in the earlier posts. If CIC is not up to date you need to update VIA ICOM. If it is updated you'll need to generate FSC via CIC patcher or another fsc program. If you google CIC patcher online or the forums you'll find links and a walkthrough on how to use it. Or you can buy an emulator to enable nav.

I'll double check the version later today when I wake up (I work midnight shifts). I've seen several threads about the VIN on the CIC not matching the VIN on CAS. The CIC I have is out of another car, so I will need to pair the VIN's. One thread said I need to use SWID_Reader, and another showed a program called BMW CIC/NBT FSC Generator. Are these done with a KD-CAN cable? Any thoughts on these software applications? Is there one you recommend, and possible a link you can PM me? The NAV is greyed out, and I can't even check version number. As for the SiriusXM Sat Radio, it won't even show an ESN, so again, do I need to pair the VIN's to make it work?

Thanks again for all your help and advice so far!

As you can see, I have a mismatch in the vin's. How do I correct this?

SW and hardware id can be read by Inpa.
Go to functional jobs.
This will read out all connected hardware the Rev's and Software
versions. See first link.
There are threads on FSC generation here I don' know much
about that.
Tool32 to change vin's in individual modules.
There are threads on it here.

The subject of whether you need a Icom cable for stuff on the Most
Bus or the Head Unit seems not have a solid answer here .
Or anywhere.
In general there seem to be lot of people that say after the 3/07 build
when they changed to D can Most Bus Modules may need Icom.

Default coding is Vo coding .
instead of using the man file you use the factory profile in
NCSexpert for the bimmertech downloads you only get to
canned profiles , factory and manipulate which is all you need.

All this stuff you are talking about except FSC codes
can be done in the Inpa suite and there are threads on it
here.

Factory profile writes the stored values in the FRM and Cas module
back into the selected module . Also called stock settings if you haven't
changed them through VO coding .
