Like to see, how much end tanks design affecting pressure drop. I.e.: in these two types.

Pretty sure atm intercooler performs better than ad intercooler.
In iat suppression anyway
I doubt it. The ad is made with a garret core and is pretty massive. At the end of the day you want an ic with the least pressure drop. If you need serious temperature reduction you spray meth or run e85. At the end of the day the cx racing / big Tom 4 inch thick version seems to be the best bang for your buck.

I am interested in the new ic from vrsf...

There's a large tube and fin intercooler being made in Australia similar size of the big tom.

This intercooler non-sense is giving me anxiety. I can't decide between 5" ETS, Wagner 5" EVO, Mishimoto...data logs are either old, biased, or scattered around to hell to the point that I've spent hours looking for them.

Need a FMIC that will hold up to the FL heat and run stage2.

I would pick a bigger intercooler for stage 2 + Florida Heat

ETS 7", Wagner EVO II, Evolution Racewerks, VRSF 7"

While trying not to be biased, a non-stepped 5" isn't ideal for a FBO car in FL heat, let alone a 5" with restrictive OEM connectors.

I'd go with a larger, denser core. When our intercoolers aren't available I generally recommend the Wagner EVO 2 or the ATM. Non stepped 5" units don't take full advantage of the available real estate and don't tend to flow as well.

2013 335is  [0.00]
Just installed my Evo II a couple days ago. On the 335is there was a little cutting of the backside of the bumper required for fitment, but it was minor and easily done in 10 minutes. I like the hardware with the hangers and spacer bushings they provided. The core is nice and dense with lots of heft for great heat-sinkability. IATs as you might imagine are much, much improved and the power delivery is noticeably smoother just like every other time I've installed an FMIC on my previous 335s.

Did you have a stock intercooler before or a different aftermarket?

Wagner EVO II is one of the best FMIC. Enjoy!

Yes, I had the stock intercooler on the car before the upgrade. My 335is has 7500 miles on it, so the stock FMIC was in great shape with almost no oil puddled in it yet.

Yep, I bought it from you guys. Forgot to take any pics during the install. I was trying to get in and out as I had some other things to attend to that night.

I actually made a nice log to throw up here, but for some reason it wasn't in the MHD folder when I went to upload it. No idea. I'll do another one here shortly once it stops raining for some back to back comparisons.

My car is stock except for two upgrades. Hexon 600 turbos and Spec Stage2+ clutch. Hoping to start talking to wedge about tuning eventually (still don't understand half the stuff I'm reading). Should I be concerned about upgrading the FMIC yet or are there other mods I should be focusing first. If not what FMIC do you recommend for my goals of roughly 400WHP/400TQ on 93 octane (not sure if thats even possible so may have readjust those goals if its not since I've no interest in running meth)

your goals can be achieved with stock turbos .. Since you have upgraded turbos, you can do much better

If you are only after 400 whp, you can get away with a Wagner EVO I , VRSF 5", Active Autowerke Sport or ETS 5"

I'll be going Stage 2+ flash on my cobb with my 5" vrsf stepped intercooler. I'm FBO and in Michigan

Am I efficient/safe in terms of my cooling to power ratio?

Why so modest?! LOL ..dude you have Hexon 600s !

I'm FBO with a VRSF 5" stepped, with stock turbos, and 93 Octane. The car is very much in the 400whp bracket. Ofcourse it varies with conditions, and fuel. Great fuel and cold condition mean north of 400. Crap fuel and hot weather would bring you down a bit.
Point being with your Hexon 600 you should be doing 500+ and for that I suggest doing a larger core, 7"

PS- they are called RR600 for a reason

With upgraded turbo's you should definitely consider an FMIC. I'm assuming you have at least catless downpipes and intake too?

Why Hexon 600 for only 400WHP is my question?

Nope no downpipes or intakes yet quite literally just turbos and a clutch were done. I got upgraded turbos because mine needed to be replaced and I knew I would want to tune the car eventually and in my opinion probably better (longevity) to push a better turbo to half what its capable of then a lesser (stock) turbo to 100% or more of what it can hold aka I would like for the turbos to last awhile (hopefully). I'm just glad to hear I'll have no problems getting to 400 on 93. From your question though seems i should maybe focus on intake and exhaust before FMIC?

Thanks for the comments. You eased my anxiety about how much cutting there'd be in the 335is.

It would have been better to get the 7" version, that being said the 5" will do fine for daily driving

Tune first, intercooler second, downpipes third
