anyways, how about replacing it with a stock mount? are these too soft even when new? has anyone done a back-to-back comparison with old shot mount, new stock mount and solid alum mount?

I wonder if Xdelete could be a solution or at least aid when going over 600tq on high boost maps and not kill the transfer case or LSD.If its not engaging then it should be fine but the twisted insert is def good for daily shift quality.

I have one of these for sale if anyone wants one. I had it on my car for a couple months and just took it off to install a new stock mount in case I sell it.

Any news on those StrongFlex mounts? I think the Twisted Tuning Al inserts are a bit too crazy. There still needs to be little bit of slop to soak up the drivetrain vibrations and sudden torque changes, otherwise you'd just be putting additional stress on the rest of your drivetrain.

I was thinking of just buying some relatively soft Mouldcraft 2part poly and filling in the gaps of a new stock bushing. I can CAD and 3D print a plug for one end for the pouring.

On a side note - how have you guys been removing and installing this transfer case mount? It seems like there is some BMW special tool for doing so but it's crazy expensive.

Not too hard to just pour and fill in the stock mount with poly.


Just mix and fill in one half, then cut open those thing rubber pieces in the middle and pour the other half.
Unfortunately I probably won't get around to actually installing and testing this on the vehicle for a while.

I probably wouldn't go much more than 60A since we are filling it in completely solid. Also if you use something too hard you risk separation when it tries to flex.
I think if one just filled it in with plasti-dip that would be easiest.

Ok so 80a would be to harsh you think then. Strongflex said they are doing 80a and 90a for their inserts

Twisted tuning did say with enough interest he would make poly mounts and price would be about the same or a little less i think as the solid ones he makes.

Well it also depends on how much volume their mount is taking up if you know what I mean. When you fill them in like I did you're adding a lot of extra volume so I don't think you need that high of a durometer.

That's why people are asking for urethane inserts.
Replacing the bushing is too hard and costs more.
My conclusion is that the void is there for a good reason.
NVH increase will be noticeable whatever the void is filled with.

I installed the twisted tuning mount and then drove it about 10 mile. I have been installing a water pump and clutch since then, but for that short drive I enjoyed how the mount felt. I also have 95 duro rev shift motor mounts, so any nvh increase was already minimal compared to those. Im sure its not for everyone. You can har some very slight gear whine with the radio off and driving low speeds.

there was a guy on the 335xi FB group that filled it with 80 or 90 and drilled some holes into it after, that seemed to work fine also. the 60A solid fill seems to cause no significant nvh change as reported by some other guy in that group also.
the way i understand it, it's a bitch to remove the old one and install the new.
so, would that be much easier with the Twisted insert?
