on3Performance Front mount intercooler just arrived last week. Pictures are below, i'll let you guys comment on the quality. Installing it this week. Price is $360 shipped and looks to be similar to the VRSF intercooler.

Curious to see how the On3 performs. That's a steal at that price point.

Got around installing the on3 FMIC last night. It went smooth. No fitment issues at all as long as you know what you're doing.

This is one of the reasons I dont understand how these "innovative" companies release products without direct, comparable data (product a vs product b vs stock), testing. Are consumers supposed to take a companies word that their products are better because they cost more or are from a name brand?

I do not wish to derail this thread but your post does not make any sense.

My company knocks off products?

Price has nothing to do with whether or not a product should copied. You don't like the price, offer another product for a better price and you will take most of the market. Just because you think a product is over priced does not give you the right to copy it.

I'm not against going with a cheaper product. As a consumer you have the right to choose any product that you think is worth the money. Cheaper products and knock offs are completely different.

Take VRSF for a example, they offer cheaper alternatives that are not replicas of any other product.

Anyways i will not be further commenting on this since I'm sure it will derail the thread. I would like to ask you and everyone else to do the same and stick to the thread topic.

Every company knocks off products. Unless you are saying you pioneered intercooler tech before Spearco and Garrett your intercoolers are a knock off of the tech with a few changes at best. So how can you come down on another company for doing the same?

What you just said goes against the heart of economics. Price has everything to do with it. That's how the world works. Something is developed at "x" price another company finds a cheaper and better way to manufacture "x" product. So in order for the original company to stay relevant they need to either further improve on the product to find a way to beat the market price for the product. Just saying we are the original makers of "x" product doesn't mean anything.

VRSF doesnt make anything that hasn't been made before, unless you are talking about the shape of the product. Tube and fin, bar and plate intercoolers have been around since forever. Even the fin design hasnt changed much over the years with the exception of the orientation. All of it though is a knockoff of Garrett cores with their own small twist.

Here's something that is on topic since I am "derailing" the thread. Why wont any company prove their intercooler is better with back to back testing? Everyone makes claims but I have yet to see one company publish side by side testing results on the same car with different intercoolers.

1- We don't make products we are only a vendor. So no we do not knock off products

2- we are not saying VRSF invented the intercooler obviously. But they design their own products that are not direct copies of any other brand. It sounds like you do not understand the meaning of Knock offs

Best sounding in my opinion is the REMUS but it is only offered in quad setup.

VRSF will get you the most for your money and it sounds amazing paired with catless downpipes

Inlets are definitely worth it, I would get the VRSF ones

I bought a used AMS FMIC. I ended up having to re-weld a new end port on the passenger side. Probably should have went new and got a VRSF for same price. I got everything mounted up. On the first test drive though I hit boost then the car went into limp mode. I was on the road so I shut the car off and restarted and it went away. Just drove it conservatively rest of the way home.

I'm thinking I may have to tighten the hose clamps again. Any thoughts? What is the easiest way to find the boost leak?

Gotta pull the code.

Either 30FF boost leak or Misfire Limp Mode.

The clamps need to be SUPER Tight on intercoolers.

Jeff, thanks for your feedback. I pulled the codes tonight. Here is what I have. I have downpipes so I know about the O2 sensors.

29F3 - Fuel pressure sensor, electrical (low fuel pressure sensor? leaking injector?)
2ACB - DME digital motor electronics main relay, input signal (Found out caused by the Daeos Vista Relay Harness for daytime running lights for those unable to code in DRLs (including my 2006 330i). tapped the 12V line out of the DME, it detects that and throws this error.)
29F4 - Cat Converter conversion (downpipes)
29F5 - Cat Converter conversion 2 (downpipes)
2CEE - Throttle valve actuator, rough running (reset adaptations? thrown cause of the misfire?)
2D09 - Butterfly valve (reset adaptations? thrown cause of the misfire?)

I recommend you clear the codes and check later to see which codes reappear again

Here's logs of the VRSF 7" HD core. 2-4 gear pull, 91 degree start, 100 degree finish. 9 degree rise over 3 gears. Stock turbo car and tuning is on going, I'll post updated logs once we get more.

We have yet to see an intercooler perform this well at this volume.
