E90 M Sport Lip DIY Thoughts
Hello, I am new to the bmw community and this forum. Came from a stick 3v mustang gt and I am so happy with my e90 I can't describe it! I have an M sport and bought some of those front side splitter lips that are f30 style. I didn't like how they stuck out on the sides and not the middle, kind of looked like whiskers ona catfish to me... I was looking into lips to make the whole front end complete, but I could't find anyone selling a lip that perfectly matches the contours and shape of the e90 front bumper. I didn't want a far out lip, I wanted something subdlte but still make a night and day difference and I think I achieve that. I learned how to use carbon fiber and made this lip out of carbon fiber! I think it came out great, what do you guys think?

Looks like it came out pretty damn good for your first time messing with CF! Good job!
What kinda process did you go through to shape it?

Looks good. Did you make the side spoilers too? Or just the flat lower splitter?

I'm looking to do a similar project, but it will be a lip incorporated with the under tray (my stock one is trash).
I was planning on going with thin foam sheet skinned with fiberglass, lip in carbon. Any reason you went with plywood? |

Awesome thanks. I was planning on skinning one side for rigidity then drilling out the foam from the other side in the areas where screws will be. Then vacuum bag the other side so the glass draws into the divot. Then there would be a recess for the screw.
Thoughts based on your experience? |

Looks good especially for a DIY job.
Just wondering what's the functional purpose of this lip? Divert air up to the engine? But looks like your stock base tray is still there hence blocking any air. Suck in tiny woodland creatures perhaps? |

Nice, looks propperly good. The advantage of using foam would be, if you used enough carbon and made it strong enough, you could then use acetone to melt the foam out, leaving only the carbon.
However, as far as looks goes (which let's be honest, is why most people who have one, do) the plywood core ended up looking about as good as you probably can reasonably get it. |
