New clutch because of squeaks

My car now has a new clutch. When you pressed and released the clutch, there was a loud squeaking noise. I was sure all that was needed was some grease. When I went to the dealer, they figured the noise was coming from the springs in the pressure plate or clutch disk and changed the whole assembly for me. My car only has 12,000 miles on it!!!

Yes, clutch system is not dead silent! Noise was noticeable before and could only be heard if the driver's side window was open.

Nice, now you have a new clutch. Even if you did not need it, that is pretty nice.

That info is posted at the top. Apparently, this is a common problem with the old 540, M cars and older 3 series. Dealer thinks it is the pressure plate.

At the dealer now. They seem to have fixed it. The plastic bushing on the end of the slave cylinder needed some high temperature grease.

I had a clutch squeak too and the dealer just lubed up the pedal spring I believe and it's been fine for months now...

My noise came from within the transmission. Had nothing to do with the pedal spring.
