Non-Idrive to CIC for 500!!!

By far the best part about these cars becoming cheap is the amount of them popping up around being parted out. Found a local e93 335i being parted out with CIC and was able to get the whole dash, CIC screen, head-unit, controller and wires needed all for just $500 bucks. So if anyone tells you its cheaper to trade the car in toi it is most definitely not if you put in some effort sourcing parts. Only thing I am missing is the wood console the donor had a top switch attached to it.

Side note: I blew my motor about 4 moths ago and sourced a totaled 335i mt with 90k on it with all rear end damage for $2006.00 after tax and fees on Copart and did a full engine swap and automatic to manual conversion, sold all the leftovers from the e90 donor car and actually broke even making a free engine and trans swap! Moral of the story is yeah cheap e90s leads to some of them getting riced out, but they also are getting amazingly cheap to retrofit, next up on my list is comfort access and a com box should start a build thread with my car but I'm so far into it already...

All pulled off the same e93 by me for $500 total
-Double-scoop I-drive Dashboard
-CIC Headunit
-CID screen
-iDrive controller
-CIC cable, connects to CID for video signal
-USB port and cable that go to glove box
-cable that connects CID diplay to wire harness in junction box
-controller wiring i cut off the connector and soldered on longer wires onto
them and spliced into my harness.

-extra few feet of wire that i ripped out of a harness I had laying around from an e90 donor car

only item that I purchased was a Fakra blue Male connector to Female connector that was 12 feet long to connect the headunit to the gps in my shark fin to the tcu that was in the trunk on amazon for 12$

complete total for idrive swap was $512.00

It isn't as difficult as it looks. With the help of forum members you can definitely do it

Not hard at all honestly, pulled the transmission and engine out together on my car and the donor car but normally you would just be dropping the transmission, installed a new clutch, the flywheel looked good so I left it. did the whole thing myself except swapping the diff you need a friend for this and even then its still difficult.(Keep in mind you don'T need the M/T diff but it I had it from a donor and i wanted to leave the driveshaft hooked up so why not) Did a rear main because why not I was already there.

Parts came from donor:
MANUAL transmission of course
6mt driveshaft
6mt differential
clutch master cylinder
gas pedal without kickdown
pedal box with smaller brake and clutch pedal (includes slave cylinder)
metal lines that lead from slave to master cylander
transmission support bracket
clutch switch (can be bypassed but car will start in gear and no cruise control)
Shifting arm and bearing and bracket (all one piece)
leather shift boot

Extras:
zhp shift knob
brake fluid
new bell housing bolts
new clutch
new rear main seal

Thank you for the detailed response. This definitely interests me, especially since the AT upgrades still seem lackluster compared to manual
