That HAECO spot is on of my favorite, since plane-spotting is one of my hobby on the weekends. Looking out across the Pearl River Mouth (and being able to see Macau and Zhuhai on clear days-usually in the summer) is really refreshing and relaxing after a work week, not to mention being a good background to take photos with your bimmer!

I also like driving on the North Lantau expressway to get to that spot, not just because it has the highest posted speed limit in HK, but because it comes closest to the kind of highways that exists in North America and Europe, it's actually pleasant to drive on, not like many other narrow and congested roads in HK with impossibly tight speed limits.

It is at South Perimeter Road. Go to Hong Kong section for google map and type that.

For specific instruction: Exit to Yu Tung Road from N. Lantau Highway at Tung Chung (before you cross the water to the airport), turn right to Shun Tung Road. Keep going on Shun Tung Road until you reach the roundabout, then go on the bridge (Chep Lap Kok South Road) to Chep Lap Kok. Turn left to continue on Chep Lap Kok S. Road (which follows the southern shoreline) after you pass the the next roundabout on the island. Keep going pass 2 other roundabouts and reach South Perimeter Road (the road that continues to follow the southern shoreline of the airport). The road will lead you to the end of the southern runway and reach the HAECO aircraft hangers. Just before you reach the hanger is the best spot for the photo-taking.

Oh, and watch out for the police speed cameras there, don't be tempted to drive fast there, despite the low traffic!

Thanks bro!

Not sure if those speed cameras are just for show since my radar/laser detector gives no warning. A lot of buses drive above speed limit too.

I shot these photos at 8am when there's not a whole lot of traffic. During the weekends, surprisingly there are quite a lot of people there! You will see a group fishing by the water, group of cyclists, group of motor bikes (ducati, r1, harleys) group of vespa scooters, group of flickr folks etc. Unfortunately, not many car sightings because you can'y really stop on the road unless you drive up the curb to park on the grass or go to where my point B end is on the map (street view) by the gate. You can try to park there or drive/park on the grass.

I've driven there numerous times and I do notice the police setting speed traps there on many occasions, so better be careful, hehehe.
