Put a mans mind at ease. Stop/Start before stationary?
Hi folks. Great forum.
Question (and I've unsuccessfully searched the forum for an answer): Is it normal for the Stop/Start to kick in if I'm in Neutral, have my foot off the clutch and foot on break BUT I'm still moving? Basically, engine will cut as I coast to a standstill. All good, or should it only cut when the car is at a stop? 2009 E92 320i Thanks! |

Hi Jazzzman,
Yes, my e92 does exactly the same... a little unnerving the first time it did it as there’s no steering! But it’s functioning correctly. Thanks, George |

That's COLD start after the engine has been off for hours, cooled down, and oil has drained back into the sump from bearings and oil galleries and oil film no longer coats rings, etc. There is some very small amount of wear on the starter every time the starter is engaged. Hear any stories about having to have drive plate or flywheel replaced on auto start/stop vehicles? George |
