I know it is a while off yet, and it has been asked before, but it didnt get an answer from the COBB team, but any chance that you will be doing something for the 1 series M coupe in the future? Since it is a N54.

Unlikely, perhaps, but I work in IT and have to flash certain devices from time to time, routers, phones, BIOS' etc -- they work most of the time, but occasionally it'll go wrong and the device becomes pretty much null & void.

The last thing I'd want is a bricked BMW DME.

A quick Google search yields some threads from STI owners who managed to brick their ECU. Is this something we need to worry about?
yep this is very important

What I don't like about this Cobb thing is that they seem to emphasize the hardware side of things (AccessPORT) instead of emphasizing the power gains, the maps, driveability, how they manage to make big power with low boost, etc. I would never buy a tune for the auxiliary stuff it comes with.

they emphasize what distinguish them from other Tuners - Flashes. We will have to wait and see how their calibrations are working and what kind of performances they are able to get out of the cars.

LOL, and here I feel like it's going to be forever between the N55 Support for you guys and the Support for the N55 X5/535 crowd... Our ECU's are programmed differently than the N55 135/335's. Probably something to do with the 8-speed tranny's we use, among other things

Did the "Thursday Event" happen? Any cool vids or pics? What'd you have on the dyno?

But yet there is still such a big difference. Previously I think the 135 made even less than the 335 on the dyno now it's flip flopped.

Is this through your own testing or has anyone actually brought one into the dealership?

Cobb hasn't posted a new chart with the updated 135. You're still looking at the one that is "suffering" from their calibration issues.

That's they was it was on subys too.
Really? Did you read the thread?

BTW results look nice...personally I love the claimed af ratio.

That was the updated dyno for the 135.

will this tune work out of the box in high altitude (7500+ ft)?? Will there be a special map for high altitude or will it require a custom dyno tune?

We need all the Dynos we can get with this tune.

The base hp on the stock 135 was a lot higher than the posted 335I numbers. That could easily be accounted for simply from the differences from car to car. The gains would be different from day to day too. The 335I could have been run in Austin on an 80 degree day in October, the 135 yesterday in the morning when it was 40.

What we need is people to dyno their cars before and after the tune, that is only numbers I trust personally.

Agreed. I have a bone-stock 2008 335i that I'm willing to volunteer for this test. I live five minutes from COBB in Austin, Texas?

COBB - Sound like a plan? It is rather cold this weekend I might add.

I just turned in the N54...now I have a N55 and have to wait.

Hopefully it won't be too long--this looks like a great option for people like me, aka a mechanical retard. Plug it into the port and go....awesome.

Here is the answer in a nutshell:

The issue with the xi cars... well not really an issue.. they only tested it out on 1 335xi and that car had some driving issues ... but because no other tuner has any issues with an xi (it doesnt differ at all that would cause it to) it most likely was the car itself.. they just need another xi to load it on to and make sure thats what it was. It 99% was not a tune related issue but the issue the car unrelated. So we are waiting for them to test another xi car or 2. Problem is, not many xi 335s in texas..
Thanks!

Fyi. New development. Shiv' repsonded to my asking why he and Terry (aka Mike) were so silent on all of this. I predicted what Shiv' said below in another thread right after he announced vin locking in v5. It looks like flash tuning options may become more readily available as 2011 goes on.
