E90 330D Valeo Voltage Regulator Brushes

Hi All,

So I think my voltage issue is getting worse, usually I can snap the car out of just putting out 12v when started by turning the car on and off a few times and the it will go back to the normal 14.1/14.3v but today after 6 restarts it still stayed around 12v so I got back home and due to the unusual circumstances that my voltage either runs perfectly or runs at 12v with no in between issues (doesn't drop voltage while driving, has no issue maintaining 14v with everything running doesn't fluctuate under acceleration, checked with multimeter at alternator and battery and it does put out 12v sometimes then 14v after a few tries) but yeah it either works perfectly or runs at 12 I'm wondering if its actually the voltage regulator brushes on the verge of not contacting those slip rings? Anymore..

So, has anyone replaced the brushes for the voltage regulator? Dont see the need to purchase a voltage regulator if the brushes can be soldered for less than £3 but not so sure on which brushes to get?..

Interesting, I too would give a shot at a repair with new brushes. I bought a regulator from Autohaus AZ I will measure the brushes and see what I can find in the way of replacement.

Hello, I am attempting the same alternator repair.

I've managed to lose the nut that goes on the B+ post. I wonder if you can tell me nut I should get. I used a 13mm socket to get it off.

Thanks!
