OK.. so here's what's going on.
After a week of hearing this noise and hoping it would go away, I brought it to PEAKE BMW as a walk-in. They were very nice and the main tech went for a test drive with me where he heard the sounds. Took the car into the shop and I waited about 15 minutes. He came into the lounge and assured me that I wasnt hearing things but he "at a glance" couldnt find or see anything wrong. He told me to make an appointment where I could leave it for a couple days for them to take the car apart. So next Friday, she goes back in. I made notes of everything everyone stated on this thread and told him one by one the suggestions. He ruled out tires, he ruled out brakes. So Im just as confused as he is. Its safe to drive as of now but Im going to limit my driving. |

two different actions are in play here. brakes and suspension.
everyone has talked about brakes, lets discuss suspension. obviously when you brake, the nose of the car dives and compresses the suspension.... does the car make this noise when you bounce it while parked? open your door and stand on the door jamb, jump and rock the car.... bad strut maybe? friction/binding between suspension components? Bumpstop? could it be a bushing? |

there is no way someone can rule anything out just by visual inspection (except brake pads or rotors).
if the sound comes when you hit the brakes, then it is related to the mechanism which activates the brakes. from hearing the sound on your videos, the car definitely doesn't sound right and you were right to take the car in ASAP. Quote:

not from the symptoms Sara indicated. if this is suspension related, the noise will be more pronounce in hard braking (since the noise of the car will "dive" more).
anyway, there is no point to speculate until they check the car in detail.

Here's something I've always wondered about. Say you drive on a driveway that's not paved, just stones. The stones stick to your contact patch, so when you leave, the stones go flying everywhere. Where can they potentially go? Say they're not all large, but some are small? The reason I bring it up is once I noticed leaving someone's stone driveway that there were lots of rocks stuck to my tires. No joke, 2 hours later at a convenience store, I found some of the rocks under my car. When we got to our destination yet another hour later, more rocks. Always made me wonder if objects could get caught up somewhere and eventually fall out. Maybe they go where they shouldn't?

I kind of doubt it could be mechanical issues with such a new car, but often in the desert our pads get squeaky because of all the dust that blows around although I doubt that's much of a problem for yall in norleans

I heard this noise on your sound clips, but do you hear the noise under the glovebox at all?
