I'm looking into fitting this onto my 02/2010 320d 177HP. I'm waiting for a quote from BMW (hope i won't have a heart attack when i get it), but i also got a good quote from somewhere else (not dealer), @~1100 Euro for the steptronic kit.
The thing is that i don't think BMW will agree to fit the kit on the car if it's not bought from them.

Anyway, i'm really excited by the fact that you guys say it will sharpen the steptronic gearbox a bit. Noticed that the kit converter is the same OEM converter they put on the newer 184HP models.

I'm also curious about the low-end torque, do you feel an improvement on that side?

My local dealership said they'd fit the kit to my E91 320d 184 today for £1200. Weird thing was I then got this from them:

'In respect of the tuning kit for your 320d, it is disappointing to inform you that due to the production date of your vehicle (15/09/2010) BMW do not supply a suitable tuning kit. The reason for this is that the kit was designed for vehicles up to 03/2010 production which has an N47 engine. Your car has the technically updated engine N47TU. BMW have not developed a tuning kit for the N47TU and have no plans to do so'

The BMW UK site says there is a kit for cars built after 03/10 and gives all the power/performance figures

Just wondered if anyone had actually had the kit fitted to a 184bhp car?

Get in touch with Anneka. She originally gave me a price based on reg/VIN number on my 2011 320d. Since then I've also had a price from my local dealer. Just wish I had the funds to do it.

184HP performance power kit has just recently been announced at Geneva motor show, so they might not be aware of it, yet.

@Dex78 - is your car automatic or manual?

The offer from my dealer was little under 1500 Euros for the automatic kit and labor. Basically just the price of the kit. My car is 02/2010 and has the 177HP engine.

Do you guys intend to replace the transmission fluid as well? That's quite expensive to replace (~250E just the fluid) and not sure if i should do it or not.

Btw, i'm not quite sure yet, the torque with this kit will be 390Nm, but it will be available from a higher rpm (2000rpm vs. 1750-2500rpm on the stock and the 184HP kit), correct?

I found since the tweak pulling away is much more smoother and you dont have to give it as much throttle as well as far less judder and much smoother when you pull away even on uphill start

Placed the order for my kit today. I will post an update after i'll have it mounted on the car.
Meanwhile, i'm not sure if i should do a full transmission fluid replacement or not. What do you guys think? Car has 50,000km (~31,500 miles) on the clock.

30k is low milage no reason why you should need to change the fluid

I think you're right. Besides, changing the transmission fluid is really expensive. I think i'll pass and change it at 100,000km.

I just had the PPK installed in my 320d steptronic. Didn't have a chance to test properly, but first impression is that the car's response is much more direct and acceleration is harder.

Will come back with a proper review after i'll have time to test it.

Found your review of the Power Kit very useful. Helped convince me to have it installed. My review of the components, installation etc. here: http://showcars.co.za/bmw/bmw-perfor...pgrade-review/

One thing also to consider when you have the kit fitted you get the other parts back so ECU, fan , intercooler. With e90 ECUs going on ebay for £200 plus you can always sell up to recoup the cost

Correct! I got all the hardware they removed in a box. Plan is to recover some costs by selling them.

Thanks for pointing that out Magic77.

I totally agree with the review the kit should be standard though I suppose main reason its not is to keep the market for a 325D otherwise the two are too close to call on power.

Same reason we never got the 323D with the twin turbo as in the 123D. That would have been nice

Hi,

don't know if this is the right thread to post my question....if not, can a mod-admin transfer it to the right one?

Well, I got already since 2011 installed in my E90 320d 177HP this Performance Power Kit and the claimed HP now is 197........but, I still want a little more...

So, the question is the following: Has anyone ever remapped an E90 320d (ex 177 HP) 197 HP with this Performance Power Kit already installed? If yes, any links for companies that do this?

I've search a few companies (Evolve, Racechip, etc.) but there's nowhere an option for this version (197 HP).....if fact, Racechip.de claims that their chip for the normal 177HP version will work fine in my car & the output will be what their site states for the 325d version (because it has the same 197 HP......don't believe it though, it's a 3.0L engine that.... )

Thanks in advance

If you had the kit done you still should have the original ECU you could get that reprogrammed to around 240 at least and swap it out again. Though clutch issues might come up
