Exactly what I was thinking. Great minds . . . They also might keep coming loose from vibration with no flex coupling. The number of welds is a bit concerning because it is only more to fail.

Mr.5,
Thanks for posting the mini-DIY. Just one question...how did you know how much TQ you needed for the V-band clamp? I forgot which car I installed DPs on, but that clamp leaked like crazy.

I'm actually thinking about getting rid of my exhaust and just going with a DP since I know the car will be just too loud w/ the DP & exh

I didn't know how much torque, but I just felt when enough was enough.
I also put exhaust paste on the downpipes before I installed them.
As far as I know, there are no leaks.

My sound is perfect now! It's a little louder because it's a little raspier.
I still have no drone!

I had to use a 2-foot long 2x4 piece of wood to get the front of the car up. Stock, the OEM front lip hits the ramps before the tires start to climb the ramp. No big deal.

Yep, the e92s are a bit lower.

you can get a quieter exhaust or mod it to your liking. I wouldn't go back to the stock exhaust if I were you.

Here is a link to the Svenske "lite" exhaust setup that became popular on the Volvo S60R's. This is what I had on mine. 3" ceramic coated stainless all the way from turbo back. The exhaust from Svenske racing did not have a muffler, just 2 resonators so it was LOUD. Amazing sounding, but loud. A few of us added in 3" straight thru Magnaflows on the rear section to quiet it down a bit w/ out sacrificing much hp. What an amazing sounding exhaust, just beautiful.

I dont see why this couldnt work here as well. magnaflow makes mufflers w/ outside diameters as small as 3 1/2"...so it should fit.
